How New SpaceX Starship Version Will Be Different | "Sleeping Giant" Black Hole in Our Galaxy Found

Hello friends,
Welcome back to another episode of Engineering Today, and I hope you’re all having a great time.

Welcome back to another episode of Engineering Today, and I hope you’re all having a great time.

Now, Elon Musk recently talked about why he decided not to add stainless steel "dragon wings" to the Starship spacecraft. This decision happened five years after he first mentioned the idea on social media.

Back in April 2019, Musk posted on Twitter about the possibility of adding these large wings to Starship. This comment came right after the final season of Game of Thrones aired, which got people wondering if Musk was joking. However, Musk later explained that he was about 6.5 out of 10 serious about the idea and believed that it could work based on physics.

HUGE THANKS TO:

To be resolved, thank you.

To those wondering, Inconel is an extremely tough high melting point alloy, used in rocket engines and anything that has to withstand extreme circumstances. Not surprising that it survived re-entry.

Would love for you to do a video on black holes. Your commentary is excellent

I think we are about to see more wings, but they have to be kept minimalistic...

Next flight is rumored to have a different profile, not flying bass ackwards and getting jammed on tilt.

And sounds like the booster needs to be a bit more beefy...
Considering 80% of the strength of a hull is in the skin, more internal structure is doing it wrong.

They need to go back to thicker skin at the bottom. maybe get thinner going upwards on the booster, and keep skin weight to ribbing and longitudinals about 4:1... i.e. 80/20 percent, to reflect to structual reality sweet zone.

Just sayin'

The terms monopoly and unfair advantage are totally erroneous.

The fact that inconel is both heat resistant and corrosion resist and used in industries for that purpose should be some clue why it survived

Considering that IFT-3 essentially ran out of propellant on a suborbital flight carrying no payload at all and that SpaceX claims that Starship will be able to take 100-150 tons into orbit, it makes sense that its fuel capacity is being increased, but Starship is years behind schedule and may never ferry astronauts between Orion and the lunar surface (the reason that NASA gave SpaceX almost $3 billion). I notice you don't say that the new version of Starship or its booster will be recovered successfully; after the disastrous performance of IFT-3, I'm not expecting much either. Awful -- another channel trying to capitalize off the boundless credulity of the fanboys.

Could you please not use American measurement units? Nobody else in the world understands them. Please use standard metrics.
