In this video I explain the ending of Little Nightmares 2, giving what I believe to be the most logical explanation for why Six did what she did.

I also offer a theory for why Six might have traveled to the maw after the events of Little Nightmares 2.

My name is Tericho!

On this channel I explain, explore and expand upon the darkest worlds in video games!

Mono really does redefine the idea of a fallen hero.

I agree with the point at 8:50. If Six was always going to leave Mono, then she would’ve just kept running. She didn’t. She consciously turned around and held her arm out to catch him. Then she hesitated for awhile before dropping him. What really does it for me is when she slowly rises, staring down as she watches her friend plummet. Even though you can’t see her face, there’s a lot of emotion there.

I just realised... Six is the only one who doesn’t NEED the signal.
Even in the first game, she turns on the tv, but can run away. Everyone else who’s near a tv when it’s on can’t resist. Not even the janitor, not even Mono.

OKAY BUT- that would be so cool for a third game/finale, to have Six venture back through another part of the world to get back to Mono and free him- maybe not because he’s her friend but because she understands that this is the only way to fix the fractured timelines. perhaps along the way we will get to meet the other children and see what they are capable of… like an epic quest to free their world from the signal, whether or not that includes saving Mono.

edit for people still commenting on this in 2024: i haven't followed this creator for a couple years now, because of some rather insensitive comments made towards me (a trans person) during a conversation about trans people. i'm leaving the comment here because i enjoy this franchise, but i'd appreciate if i didn't get replies anymore. happy theorizing.

It amazes me that, everytime I think you have milked the possible theories and explanations for this franchise dry, you pull out yet another new angle to look at things, great job man. And now it gets me wondering what else you can look into in LN....perhaps rationalizing what creates Shadow Six and other shadow children littering LN 2? In any case, excited to see what you can pull up next.

Six dropped Mono because his hands were sweaty

I like that whenever you're about to say something real goosebumps-inducing, you pause for a while, which adds to the effect greatly

Honestly I think Six has embraced the darkness of the world the moment she was turned back from "monster", and based on the music of that bridge scene, she didn't regret that decision. And as a repercussion she is now starving like everything else in the world.
Mono as well, accepting hopelessness turns into what he was running away from or avoiding from becoming. Poor dear.

I have thought of this stream idea for a while: Get a timeline of all the important events in the franchise and with the help of chat you can find appropriate songs cause I have quite a few ideas. Also, if you're looking for simple theories then I have another idea for you: The first time Six say Mono's face is after he rescued her and maybe she realized he would grow up to become Thin Man. I have to say I like your theories more though

Oh the joys of a world where tv is known as "Fast Travel- Press X to Teleport (Mono Edition)"

That was your best yet Tericho, outstanding theory and I hope it's true. I've been trying to make sense of this like you since it was released and this is the only theory that doesn't seem to leave holes. It gives lots of scope for expansion on the story and further DLC's too, that would be a perfect ending. I really hope Bandai Namco carry this on where Tarsier left off and don't spoil it or leave the story incomplete. Thanks for making these videos!

I seriously love your theories! You always apply so much logic and past knowledge and factors from both games to come up with these very realistic scenarios. You seriously deserve way more recognition!!

I like the theory that the signal tower erased some of Six memories of Mono to make sure she dropped him since she kinda cared for him

I would like to think that Six does come back to save Mono, but thats a happy ending. She might fail horribly, maybe killing Mono in the rescue . But this is if it ever happens. I really like how you keep LN alive with these great theories.

I think she dropped him fur multiple reasons but the main ones are: Mono releases thin man, mono fails to save her from thin man, mono destroys her only form of escapism in the tower, the platform is cracking and crumbling (it even falls immediately after six leaves)

5:25 That part does not make sense to me. The people warped by the signal tower aren't supposed to absorb Mono, just "watch" him. Why would they absorb him only when they are not part of the flesh monster ? That does not make sense to me

That makes a lot of sense! Also leaves it open in case we ever do get another game in that world.

I've already monologued at length about my theory, and it basically aligns with this. I never did realize the eyes only look at Mono, though, I like the conjecture that she realizes this. And of course, I don't think Six becomes the Lady because she leaves the Maw after she gets those powers, so a little rescue mission (or revenge mission, if a darker, edgier story suits a theorist better) makes the most sense.

I will say, though, that if this was the first time she experienced The Hunger, she may not be as weak as all she gets late into the LN game. For one, it's a progressing hunger. It starts out small, and ends with her eating a Nome and Lady, so it might have been a weaker hunger. Also, the hunger fits themselves start small. She isn't immediately debilitated, you can walk around for a bit before it takes her down. But notably, she does begin to curl in on herself at the end of her walk away from the ledge. Personally, I think it's because she's had a bad day, and this was the cherry on top of her sad ice cream. But, you could argue it's similar to how she curls in and clutches her stomach when she starts getting hungry.

Personally, either explanation works for me. Or heck, why not both? People make decisions based on numerous factors, it's very rarely a single cause for a single effect. :)

I love the idea that Six is saving Moono AND I love you theory's, they can be only described as unique

Great theory! I really like that last part about Six and her possible redemption, and I think part of Little Nightmares II may support that. There's the easter egg where you can find what seems to be The Lady's apartment in the Pale City. It's possible that at some point, Six did try to come back, using what she had from the Maw, and left some things behind in that apartment, or was using the flat as a sort of base. It makes sense seeing as architecture and inanimate objects don't seem to be affected by the loops. It feels more plausable than the apartment in the Pale City specifically being where The Lady's from. Maybe Six did try to break Mono from the loop, possibly more than once, and just didn't make it to the end.
