Verify Linux Mint ISO file on Windows

preview_player
Показать описание
The process of verifying the Integrity and Authenticity of Linux Mint ISO file downloaded on Windows System.

The integrity check confirms that your ISO image was properly downloaded and that your local file is an exact copy of the file present on the download servers. An error during the download could result in a corrupted file and trigger random issues during the installation.

The authenticity check confirms that the ISO image you downloaded was signed by Linux Mint, and thus that it isn’t a modified or malicious copy made by somebody else.

why for the love of progress is this not made easier for people who are not tech wizards?? The video is very good, it probably explains it all. I thank you greatly for your effort. But no ordinary mortal can comprehend all this software and all these codes.. thank you for your effort tho.

Thank you so much--even though it's 3 years old, only a few things are different now, your instructions really really helped

Had to play around with the path and version name but apart from that. Would not have had a chance with the verification without your demo. Thank you.

Wow such a wonderful and very explanatory video. Thank you much for putting this out. Was having problems following the instructions on the linux mint website. This helped a lot. Love the excel trick to verify it so you don't get cross-eyed reading all those numbers and comparing them. Subscribing to your channel again many thanks

Thank you. I have always wondered why more people don't use Linux, and now I know. LOL I have to use it now, and you have really helped me here.

You've got to do all of this bs just to verify a iso isn't malicious? Isn't Mint supposed to be for beginners? lmao

I did the process once and it worked flawlessly, after a while I had to create a new bootable USB and tried again, but I just keep getting the message: "The term 'CertUtil' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.
Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again." but the only thing that changed since the last time is that I uninstalled and reinstalled gnupg to try and fix this error. I am honestly clueless on how to proceed, I already tried a bunch of fixes but I keep getting that message. Is there a way to manually check? I tried to check with 7-zip and I do get the same code but all in capital letters. At this point I'm starting to think it's just Microsoft that is trying to prevent me from doing the switch LOL

After doing the integrity check, the letters and numbers match, but there are spaces between them in the iso file. Does this matter?

Since I'm a noobie I feel the need to ask what's up with the warning on that very next line after the authentication check with gdb? I have a 9 year old laptop that maybe a prime candidate for a Linux distro and would be a little upset if I got punked by some malicious code.

When I open the sha256sum.txt file (via editor) it just shows me a PGP signature. Instead the sha256sum file does show me a similiar text file like yours, but it isnt all together like yours but arranged one among other with etc next to it. I did download not your file though, but the one of a german one (Dark Penguin Network). Would really appreciate it if you can help me!
