Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the head of the Russian Biathlon Union Viktor Maigurov and figure skating coaches Tamara Moskvina and Elena Chaikovskaya with certificates of merit.

The order was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"For ensuring the successful training of athletes who achieved high sports achievements at the Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing, to award a diploma of the President of the Russian Federation Viktor Maigurov, Tamara Moskvina and Elena Chaikovskaya, " - said in the text of the order.

Alexandra Trusova, the silver medalist of the 2022 Olympics, spoke about her interest in men's figure skating.

"I've always followed men's figure skating. It's very interesting to watch complicated programs!

When I was 13, I made it to the Junior Grand Prix Finals. There, one day after our training, there was an adult men's training session. Naturally, both Nathan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu were there.

I talked the girls into staying and watching their training. It was really cool, an unforgettable experience! Huge amount of quadruple jumps!" - Trusova wrote in a column on Match TV.

"As for our men's skating, I always cheered for all the Russians! At the Olympics in the team event, I was worried about Mark (Kondratyuk), because I could imagine what kind of responsibility he has. In my opinion, the biggest responsibility among all the participants: he wasn't allowed to make any mistakes at all. I'm glad he made it.

In the individual tournament, I supported all the guys! I think our men's figure skating is on the rise. Many of the guys are doing three or four fours in a routine, which only makes the competition more interesting and entertaining.

I've always been more interested in watching men's figure skating. Lots of difficult elements, adrenaline and tension throughout the whole program. And there is always an intrigue - who can cope with his emotions, who is strong enough to hold out physically and come to the end. I admired and am still admiring this!

However, since recently, I have been supporting and worrying about only one figure skating athlete. I want him to always do well. For me he is the best!" - Trusova added.

The head of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova said that the full text of the decision of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee (DAC) in the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will be known in the coming days.

"All of you have read the official press release of WADA. We are waiting for the full text of the decision from the disciplinary committee and will take further action. The organizations that are authorized to appeal the decision of the disciplinary committee are also waiting for the full text of the decision. It will be forthcoming in the coming days. "There are several cases where RUSADA challenged the decision of its own disciplinary committee, " RIA Novosti Sport quotes Loginova.

Earlier, according to WADA, the RUSADA DAC ruled that Valiyeva violated anti-doping rules, but did not find her guilt and negligence. Nevertheless, Valieva's result at the Russian Championship 2022 was annulled.

Tatiana Tarasova, an honorary coach of the USSR in figure skating, believes that it will be a blow for figure skater Kamila Valiyeva if she gets disqualified as a result of the investigation of a positive doping sample.

"If the disqualification follows - it will be a blow for Valiyeva. How long are they going to beat the girl up? And Wagner is just expressing her opinion - she has a right. It's not just a matter of our country, it's an international matter, " RIA Novosti Sport quoted Tarasova as saying.

Earlier, Andreas Wagner, president of the German skating union, assessed the decision of the disciplinary committee of the Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA) in the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva.

"I assume that disqualification will follow, even considering that I feel sorry for this girl. The fact that they took away her title at the Russian Championships, it looks like RUSADA threw it in our faces, saying, here we are doing something, " Wagner said.

Two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva shared her opinion on Kamila Valieva's "Wandsday" demonstration number and the reaction to the number in the world.

- The big story this winter is Valieva and her blowing the Wensday showdown in Krasnoyarsk. What do you think?

- It resonated on social media, undeniably. I've even seen reposts from major international publics, including Netflix. Even the composer who created the music for the show mentioned Kamila. Very cool!

I agree, Valiyeva's performance was epic. Most importantly, it was very natural. She played well, plus the makeup, plus the costume. In general, everything was great.

- Can you compare it to your "Sailor Moon" in terms of epicness?

- It's difficult, because I felt the effects of Sailor Moon. Japan is a slightly different country in terms of perception. There was a real explosion there and of such power that we didn't initially expect. But both there and there the reaction was only positive - that's a fact.

- Do you think that the West was able to rediscover Valiyeva after such a positive wave of information?

- Personally, I find it difficult to judge, I do not read the news about Kamila Valiyeva every day. I can only judge her by my own perception.

I absolutely love her as a friend, I am always happy to support her. But it seems to me that everything is more or less okay with Kamila now, - said Medvedeva.

Also Evgenia Medvedeva shared her opinion on the transition of the European champion Alena Kostornaya to pairs skating.

- How do you feel about Alena Kostornaya's move to pairs skating? Surprised?

- No, I wasn't. Especially when I saw her triple ejection. It was immediately clear that she would try to do it in pairs.

It's already a season since we haven't seen her at major figure skating competitions, even in Russia, so if she has an enthusiasm to keep on developing in figure skating, even if it's in a different event, why not? Even more so, if it works, " Medvedeva said.

For two weeks Roman Kostomarov has been in intensive care with pneumonia. The condition of the Olympic champion remains stably serious, but, according to the media, there is some improvement. Doctors are even thinking about removing the athlete from ECMO. According to pulmonologist Sergei Pursyaev, if that happens, we should not hope for a quick recovery: the patient will remain under the influence of anesthesia for the first time anyway.

"The nervous system and the brain are under the control of the machines, because when a person is conscious, he cannot always control himself. Hysteria, rebellion, begins if respiratory function is compromised. This can lead to reverse dynamics, so as long as the skater stays in a coma - it saves the nervous system. All further depends on the strength of his body, maybe he will come to his senses in a day, and maybe it will take another ten days to recover, "- Woman.ru quotes the specialist.

Kostomarov's family members do not confirm, but also do not deny the disconnection of the athlete from the artificial blood oxygenation system.

"The only thing I can say: I want him to recover as soon as possible, " says the skater's wife Oksana Domnina to Match TV.

Meanwhile, Alexander Zhulin, the former coach of Roman and Tatiana Navka, gave another version of why the favorite of the public ended up in the intensive care unit.

"This is the last person I would have thought he could ever get sick like this. He's a big man, a real athlete. Apparently, he took his health a little bit, maybe a little bit of a cavalier attitude. As I was told, he was just coughing, no fever. He did all these programs, went to the bathhouse - and the bathhouse, most likely, made it worse. So, we all pray and hope that Romochka will be alright, " the specialist said in an interview for Channel One.

In contrast, TV host Lera Kudryavtseva said as if Kostomarov had a high fever.

"I talked to Zhenya Plushenko three days ago. I don't know what information is reliable, but he said that Kostomarov skated two shows with a temperature of 38.5, " she said during the "Stars Come Together" program.

Anyway, all figure skating fans, relatives, friends and acquaintances of the skater are taking his illness hard and hope for a speedy recovery. And the organizers of the ice performance "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" did not replace Kostomarov, who performs the main role in the show. Instead, the performance, scheduled for February 3-4, was postponed to next year.

Roman Kostomarov, who has been in the hospital since early January, regained consciousness and began to talk, reports the REN TV channel, citing an unnamed source.

According to the source, the figure skater's condition is gradually improving. The lung damage has become less, swelling has also gone down. Medics continue to monitor Kostomarov's health and conduct treatment, including administering sleeping pills for a full recovery of the body.
