Tl;dr - I had a pain trying to login from ABB agents from multiple windows PCs - getting 'internet error' warning. My problem was I hadn't got port 5510 TCP forwarded to NAS. Looked online couldn't find a solution found the solution on the DSM ports page, this may help someone else if they are stuck with same problem

The deduplication of Active Backup is impressive. On my DS1621+, I have 16TB of backups, and after deduplication it only takes 4.2TB of space. That is impressive. I'm also doing snapshot replication on the backups ... even on that much data it is fast and doesn't take appreciably more space.

I've only started using ABB with my Windows VM machines. I can only say WOW! I also just tested a bare-metal restore to a new blank VirtualBox machine - took 5 minutes and the result was a perfect clone. I am hanging out for a, hopefully, soon to be released macOS version, by the end of the year they say. TimeMachine will be ditched if the ABB experience is the same. ABB is by far an awesome Synology feature.

Fantastic video Will. I have a corrupted Windows 11. Microsoft wants to blow the c: drive to do an install, but they are also concerned that the d: drive will get formatted too. Instead of heading out to buy a drive to back everything up, you provided a simple solution. My PC is backing up to the Synology NAS as I type (not nearly as fast as yours, lol). HOWEVER, although I followed the instructions and got a backup, it was NOT an encrypted, compressed backup of my PC.
I found two things that didn't work correctly, and one seems to be a common one based on postings...firstly, it would not encrypt nor compress the backup, doing it this easy straightforward way. Secondly, for some reason the Check Box descriptions do not show, when setting up the backup!
For the second one, I can only presume it is a DSM 7 with Windows 11 glich...and fixable.

However for the first one, I eventually found a solution that did work, so it may be a good idea to possibly redo this video with the lastest version of DSM, when you have time (your video indicated no encryption and compression in the Task List after set-up too @ 8.10 and 8.42 minutes after successful completion)...just a suggestion.

One thing that is a bit fuzzy to me is what is included in a backup if you select "Customized volume." The PC in question has an internal drive with R-Drive backup. I don't really need to back up the local backup. But if I select the System Volume only, will this include the UEFI partition, etc? Or do I have to select "Entire device" to capture the unlettered partitions.

I think that the sign up ( 2:40 ) is so that they can see how many people and businesses are using this and can in the future tailor it to differing markets, it makes sense to keep and eye on a Beta product so they can improve it. A product that is signed up can be tracked for upgrades/updates without having to download a whole new DSM - i am not a NAS user "yet" hence the research i am doing now ( watching vids ).

I have windows ten and eleven and want them back up related to each device . 4 computers.
