Pirates just need some consistent relief pitchers. If they can hang around the 500. mark going into the all star break, then they should make some serious moves to trade up for some decent relief pichters before the trade deadline.

Well Ashcraft, really doesn't matter how well you pitch if all that can be mustered is a run on four hits. Reds as a team struck out 10 times, every starter except Espinal. De LA Cruz adds two more K's to his over 100 thus far. Who will be the rep at the All Star Game? Lodolo had the lead. Encarnacion-Strand is out for the season, like he made any sort of difference anyway This has become a year of wasted starting pitching. Reds like long term injuries, it gives them pathetic excuses for underachieving. I won't use the word "good" but even decent teams improve as the season progresses. That has not happened with practically the entire team. I know sometimes you run out of options with players in sending them to the minors. What do you do however, when options are gone and the player is terrible. Benson, Fairchild, need minors time. Reds keep recalling players from their farm let go by other teams also. Fat Ford was a BIG waste of time. Has anyone signed him? The point of contention is many Reds have nothing to be concerned about. De La Cruz can strike out 200 plus times this year. Reds went from promising to bad quickly. They are so inconsistent it is scary. They play a limited style in only being able to score on homers and extra base hits. Injuries are not the culprit, bad play and inexperience is. How do you claim to manage when you throw guys out there and have absolutely no clue as to the outcome. It is hit or miss. The Reds are at the top in strike outs and foul balls. They foul pitches off until they swing and miss. People pay to watch this? Astonishing to be that ignorant or live in a city where you feel there is nothing else to do. You are likely right, Cincinnati does have very little to do.

The Reds are still the better team. Just in a bit of a slump. Pirates fans need not get excited. You are not going to beat Atlanta and the Cardinals will sweep you right back to the basement where you belong. Reds will start winning and get a wildcard spot
