Fix common Windows 7 update errors (80072EFE & 80092004)

I show how to fix the two most common Windows 7 update errors, which are error codes 80072EFE and 80092004. There are 3 updates that you will need to install that I will link below. Note: You must have Windows 7 SP1 installed before installing these updates. I highly recommend installing all 3 updates then reboot it (no need to reboot after each one). After installing those 3 updates, you shouldn't run into any issues.

If you get another error, that will be fixed later on by checking for updates and installing more updates. You will know it's up to date when you click check for updates and it says it's up to date. I show my entire update process on a Windows 7 computer.

I do not recommend using Windows 7 as a main OS, as it ended support in January 2020. It will only update as far as January 2020. I show how to fix these in case you have an old Windows 7 computer laying around, or want to mess with it. Windows 7 works best with all the updates.

I bought a Windows 7 PC for $17 at a thrift store. I knew that 3 updates had to be installed, but I never kept track of that ones I need to install! No other guide worked except this one, thanks!!!

well Julia...all I can say is thanks. I already had watched videos for the last 48 hours and had 2 out of the 3 KB files and you gave me the missing file kb3138612-x64 that allow windows update to work. Thank you so much and yes I know Windows 7 is old and I have newer PCs, but I play around with an old 7 Ultimate PC from time to time. All this was caused by me installing an NVME drive...ha!

Wow.... this really worked.. Even the littlest things like seeing the high number of updates that need to be installed was nostalgic enough, since I used to do a ton of clean Win 7 installs back in the day. LOL! I was now able to see all the updates on my PC (OS Windows 7). I just wanna ask 1 question. Should I need to install all those 3 updates that needs to download even on the 1st update I got my PC working? Or I mean, during the 1st update installed, I was now able to see all updates that my PC required?

This one works. Lot of the videos on this error, on Youtube are a waste of time
Shut down windows update in services, set to automatic. Clear the software distribution folder in windows folder.
Install sp1 if needed then the other 3 files in the list and bingo, it works.
