I belive that's a really good tip. In exam they don't check your honesty and don't want to find out about your real preferences and interests. What they do is evaluate your fluency in a language. It's as easy as that. So a "no" answer is 100% not suitable in an exam interview.

My Spanish teacher always said that “Spanish Tests are the art of BS”. He said pick something, anything, and just talk about it. I talked about Salvador Dali’s “The Persistence of Memory” even though that is my least favorite painting in the whole world.

If i think deep down, it makes me feel that if you directly say no to the examiner, they take it bit offensive. As we come across the daily situation when we talk with people or when we ask them a question, and if they directly say no to our face, how would we will at the moment. That's what can happen in this case. 😅

If you ask a locked question, you’ll get a locked/binary answer. Everyone who has gone to school, let alone has experience with communication, knows this. You either ask an open question or a follow up question. This is in no way a far nor reasonable expectation to have from the candidate.
