I really respect the ethics of your channel, Andrew. You're always clear about how you got the devices you review, and very often you buy them yourself. Considering the deeply shady sponsorship practices of some big tech YT channels, I think you're to be applauded for your approach. Many of us do notice this effort you go to. Well done.

I just came across your channel recently and I wanted to comment on one thing... You have done by far the best job at showing off the webcam on many recent devices that I have been comparing against than most any other reviewer out there! Very much appreciated. Taking just a few seconds to show the video, and include the audio, has been super helpful! Most reviewers show about a .5 second view of the camera and I can't tell anything! Ha... Cheers!

I love this form factor. makes for a great tablet, laptop, desktop, whatever... good for playing, typing, drawing, editing, goofing around!

I'm generally pleased by the Surface Pro line. I have a SP3 (with a cracked display but still works well otherwise), a SP5 and whatever last year's model was called (SP7?). I don't need another one, but maybe next year when my son goes off to high school I will pass my SP4 along to him and get a SP8. But even on my newest one, all it takes is opening a couple Chrome tabs, google meet and OBS to (sometimes) bring it to a screeching halt. I have two external monitors connected to it through a SP dock, also.

I’m seriously considering getting one as my main computer instead of doing an M1 Mac for home and an iPad Pro when I leave the house. It’s over 400 nits of brightness, 120 hz is great, and I can save money by using a Toshiba or Western Digital 1TB SSD for under $200. I’d love to see your full review along with what Apple is doing on 10/18.

Excellent video Andrew! I wanted to see this SP8 device and will wait for your full review! I plan on start traveling again next year so I will need a more portable device, so I am thinking of choosing between the Studio Laptop and this one. I would like to hear your thoughts on this with the full review! THANK YOU!

Great to see a nice, crisp quality on the front facing camera and the internal 🎤 is not bad either. The rear facing camera is not bad as well. The fact that you can upgrade the SSD is a welcome feature as well! Brilliant review Andrew!! 👍😁

Microsoft made all the right improvements that were needed: Typepad with docking for pen, better screen, better pen for stylus pen usage, rounded design more attractive and up to date. Windows 11 comes as part of the package so Android App support will be interesting to see also. That might tap into the touch/stylus utility even more too. I'd also have to have LTE on any Surface Pro I go for.

Everything is excellent except the price! Thanks for the pre-review. Very meticulous as usual.

Definitely worthwhile to take a look at this again. It has taken them 8 generations to finally get to a point that this form factor makes sense. They finally have the thunderbolt ports and a great screen but don't understand why they didn't include some sort of antiglare to the screen, especially because it's designed to be portable and used outside, on trips, out in the field, at the beach, hotel, boat and wherever you desire. As it stands the screen has me worried that I won't be able to view it, so would love to see your test results for this.

I agree with you that the PRICE is over the top and will prevent many people from making a purchase. It used to be $800 for the Surface, $200 for the keyboard, and $50 for the pen, or $1, 050 in total. Now it's $1100 for the Surface, $250 for the keyboard, and $100 for the pen or almost $1500 in total. Why not just buy a Laptop for that price? There are so many in that price range that are way better than the surface. So scratching my head as to why MS is making this device something that no one will buy because even their own Laptops and other manufactures' Laptops are way better at the same price point.

I am interested in using the Surface 8 as a replacement for an Apple Tablet n a marine application on a boat/yacht. Therefore I am interested in its battery life and durability/resistance to salt in the air. as opposed to the Apple Tablet alternative. I am also interested to see how Windows 11 works on this device and what Tablet improvements are forthcoming in Tablet mode on Win11. Oh, and will there be any type of CASES for the Surface 8 with the keyboard attachment? I am also looking at CONNECTIVITY, to a DOCKING STATION setup, with an external monitor(s) Ethernet, external storage, and possibly GPU, so would be helpful to see your test results for this type of connectivity as well.

Thanks, Mark for your professional initial out-of-the-box review and look forward to the full review.

I had a Surface Pro 7. If you want a laptop 1st that can do tablet-y things get a Surface. If you want a tablet 1st that can do laptop-y things get an iPad Pro or Samsung Tab S7. Watch for bundles around the holidays you may see it with the typecover included. Get the pen too it's worth it. The charger having a usb-a charge port is underrated. When I had mine I also had an iPhone and could travel with just 1 charger and Lightning cable.

Looks great, I haven't really been interested in an upgrade since I have the pro 4. But these look like some great improvements. Thanks!

After using my Surface Pro 8 (i5, 8GB, 256GB) I honestly think the Surface Pro 8 is nigh the perfect 2-in-1

A SD card reader would have been great for a "pro" device.

Currently using a 2017 MBP and 2018 iPad Pro for my workflow as a student but they're getting on a bit - very tempted by the surface pro 8 to replace them as I want to get into windows-land and think it looks awesome. Thanks for the vid!

Oh wow! The front facing camera was pretty clear. The mic quality was also good IMO. I wish more OEM would upgrade their front camera to 1080p (looking at you Dell). If you don't mind, can you do a comparison between the Surface Pro 8, and the Dell XPS 13 9310? Microsoft really should start including the keyboard, plus where's the SD card slot? 🤦🏿‍♂️ These units are not cheap at all. Anyway, great review again Andrew.

Hey Andrew. Great videos. How about a review after a year of the razer book 13? There's many opposite comments of this laptops so I don't know if it's still worth.
