DON’T MAKE these Super Common Mistakes in Greek| Part 1

Today we are gonna talk about top mistakes that non native speakers make in Greek. And I would like to start by saying that not only students make those mistakes but also native speakers make those mistakes. It’s totally ok, when you start to learn a new language to misuse some tenses or some phrases. A good student though highlights the points that finds more tricky and takes advantage of them so in the future, the next time they come across the same situation they won’t repeat the same mistake again.

Yes, a video on articles would be an awesome idea!!! Greek articles can be very confusing to new learners, since the English language doesn't present the same complexity in regards to this grammatical phenomenon... Keep up the great work!!!

When I was learning Greek, I was told that if I am addressing the person directly not to use the article before their name, but if I am speaking about that person to always use the article (masc or feminine) before the name. Eg: if John is next to me, but I am speaking to David about John, I would structure the sentence with "the John", but if I am speaking to John face to face, the I call him John, no article needed.

The lack of articles in Greek where English has them, and articles in Greek where English doesn't have them is the bane of my learning journey.

Love your videos. If the people I speak to...Eng. Greek or any other language are expecting perfection from my efforts ... I'd probably not make any progress....it would be very intimidating and defeat the whole enjoyable process of sharing a love of language. Just a thought...
