I read this as a teen back in the 80s. The Judge told him I wish I had a hundred like you, most men try to get out of military service and we can’t seem to keep you out. He also went back to high school and wore his medals, damn straight he earned them.

He wasn't just looking out for himself but also his brothers in arms. That's one excellent soldier👊🏻

It’s as if his firearm went “Imma jam so you can see the grenades below you”.

M1 Carbines use a magazine, NOT a clip.

There's some scripting errors included.
Iwo Jima mainly consisted of Marines, and Marines aren't "soldiers", they're Marines. There were Army Medics on Iwo Jima, but it's quite likely that they also were referred to as Doc/Corpsman. In the Navy/Marine Corps you don't call them medics, you call them Corpsman. There are Navy Medics in the SEAL teams now, but this is irrelevant to what was previously stated. As well, in the pacific all Medics/Corpsman carried weapons. The Japanese were very ruthless and unforgiving, they didn't care if their medics died, so they didn't care to kill our Corpsman.

I met him at the 60th anniversary of the battle of Iwo Jima on Mount Suribachi in 2005!!!!

While the M1 Garand has a fixed internal magazine which is loaded with an en block clip the M1 Carbine uses a detachable magazine which im pretty sure couldnt even be loaded with a stripper clip, so youd say the medic emptied his entire magazine. Both C and R Arsenal and Forgotten Weapons have good videos about what the difference is and once you know that it's pretty easy to keep magazine and clip apart.

Marine corp: “This kid is underage, we need to send him home”
Kid: *Goes to war*
Marine corp: “Hmmm, he’s not here, maybe he gone home? desertion!!!”
Kid: “Bruh”

A ship bearing your name is extremely rare and honorable. USS Dorie Miller, Ford Class Supercarrier

THAT, gentleman, is why Americans of that era are called "the greatest generation". They were poorer, but their willingness to sacrifice more all the while ask for little or nothing in return from their country puts all those that came after to shame.

He threatened to just join the Army so they let him stay.

WTH, that makes no sense. Phone call?
Couldn't have been that hard to stop an underage kid from joining the Army.
