Today I will be going over all the elder dragons confirmed for Monster Hunter Rise and my thoughts on how they are distributing them between base game and the early title updates. World was all about the Elder Dragons with the Elder Crossing, the influence of beasts like Xeno and Shara, the threat of horrors like Alatreon and Fatalis. Makes sense Rise would focus more on the standard monsters and how their rampages and Magnamalo's malice could be a notable threat to contrast it.

I'm fine with a lack of elders. Fighting teostra and kushala against for the thousandth time isn't as interesting as the lower tier monsters.

I just want Capcom to make more powerful non-elder dragon monsters.

No sign of Zamtrios or Agnaktor which is really weird due to both of their children just hanging out in the maps

Everyone is complaining about the roster, but people tend to to forget that there was literally no reason to fight outside of tempered Elders since decos were RNG in base World. Rampages and lack of Elders looks to makes you fight other monsters than a certain class.

MH World appeared to go BIG with its story impact. Rise is all about a village called Kamura, so smaller scale like early gens. I do hope they bring back some old Elders like Jhen or Dahren Mohran and Dalamadur. Those were unique. I completely expected Teostra and Kushala. Very surprised Amatsu is nowhere to be seen.

So my take on this is that there is hype for the game of course at what it has to offer. There is also the idea that hopefully what is given now will suffice for what we can expect later down the line. Now considering the current list of Monsters that do exist, there are a few I think that could have done without to be quite honest, Jyuratodus, Kulu Ya Ku, and maybe Arzuros (but I like what they did this was more so before the release of the game). A few monster just ain't it and only there for tree building purposes which we could do without or use other monsters for. Regarding the elder dragon situation, yeah its rough we got two to work with, but they seem really good which only builds hype for what is to come. I would like to say while I understand that Teo and Kush are classics from all the past games, I think we could do without them just because they don't offer anything new. It would be more so fanservice to bring them along but I don't think they are necessary. Kirin I think is a needed absolute (while I hate him) and new elder dragons that should represent the Japanese culture as it really fits and just is overall better for the tone of the game and the direction it is going in.

Now personally, I hope that of course the expansion (if it does happen) adds a lot to the game but also they do something event based on either past games or collaborations. I know they will happen but I am more so speaking on non main series games (Frontier, Explore, Stories, etc...) I would like to see monsters from those games as not many people may have had the chance to see them but I know that could be a lot of work to get those type of deals and things to come out the way they should be. I just think it would give the community more of a chance to explore everything under the name Monster Hunter and would allow for more of a creativity showcase that displays what the team can do. Hopes and Dreams...hopes and dreams.

I’m excited for Chameleos but I’m sick of fighting Teostra and Kushala I hate more than any other monster so I’m kinda disappointed. But despite my disappointment with a couple of the DLC monsters, I’m super pumped for Rise!!

I'm really hoping Valstrax and Gore/Shagaru get in. At least one of them would be fine.

Ibuushi and Narwa (or Exia and Virtue for friends) are both Dragons.
Their subtitles are 風神龍 and 雷神龍 respectively (Fuujin dragon and Raijin Dragon translated) and the 龍 is used exclusively for Elder Dragons, normal wyverns like Leviathans (with the ecception of Bird Wyverns) use the 竜 kanji, wich still means dragon but it's written differently (ex Lagiacrus's subtitle is 海竜, wich means sea dragon or Plesioth is 水竜 water dragon).

Tbh the only catch for Elder Dragons is that they are not Capturable. Aside from the challenge side of things.. As long as the Endgame Roster give enough challenge we'll be fine..

Given that magnamalo polarized the whole community even tho he's not eve an Elder.

Don't you think that the heads on the rise logo are ibushi and narwa and that the weird double mouth monster from the kamuras hope trailer is one of them?no just me?

Well Rise Ultimate DLC will have a lot more after the 2nd DLC. Yes you can download Ultimate DLC for base game just like icebourne expansion.

Me last week: That tweet is bogus. No way Capcom would leave out basic Elder Dragons and possible Apex/Variant monsters in a Monster Hunter Game. The list doesn't even have Nergigante in it.
Me today: Well that's lame Capcom is starting Monster Hunter Rise off like that.

Man, i really dont understand the roster for this game.
Is my favorite roster for any game so far, and i absolutely love the new Monsters.
But it seems like the devs just rolled a dice with some of the choices.
The devs choose to put a villager riding a tetsucabra, in a game all about riding monsters, and for some reason not put tetsucabra in.
They failed to put lagiacrus in world, and now not only they made leviathans work, but also put lagiacrus habitat, the flooded forest, back, and they didnt put lagiacrus.
They put jyuratodus, pukei pukei, and kulu yaku, but for some reason they didnt put odogaron, the only world monster that fits the japanese astetic.
Deviljho, a monster inspired by Godzilla, isnt in a game all about japanese astetics, but for some reason they put barroth again.
