Yes the problem was low oil pressure and after many hours of fault finding the oil pick up pipe was not sucking 100% oil it was sucking air and oil this led to low oil pressure but not that it put the light on. I measured it with a gauge, the low oil p made the vanos not to work and clatter, unplugging the vanos locks them in a default position but the power was way down and made the car very slow. We dropped the subframe and took the sump off, i pressure tested the oil pick up and baffle plate only to find that it had split on the join where the gauze filter was. I bought a new one from bmw and hey press all my problems went away . Job done

That indicates that the vanos sensor is broken and needs replacement.
Or do what I did, take it out, clean it, blow it dry and install + new orings.

Hello, I have the same sound in my vehicle, the sound improves after 5 seconds, at the same time it lights the oil lamp and goes out.

So is vanos' issue not from sensors, right?
