N42/N46 Timing: VANOS locked vs unlocked

preview_player
Показать описание
Exhaust VANOS adjustment unit is locked, while the intake VANOS adjustment unit is unlocked on a BMW N42/N46 engine.

When the locking pin is engaged, the wire drops to about 15mm, when the locking pin is not engaged it drops only to 10mm.

I have a N55 and getting a code for both intake and exhaust camshaft not in locking position, fault code 002DB0. Does this mean that both my vanos are unlocked and that’s what’s causing this code to Pop up?
