This should help those who have upgraded to El Capitan and are having issues. If you purchased a new Apple Computer with El Capitan pre-installed, please check with Apple for compatibility with older OSX versions.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm turning an inherited iMac that's late 2009 into my own, and needed to revert to Mountain Lion to run the software I intend to use on it. This is the way all instructional videos should be!

This actually helped me out I thought I had to do a clean install but now I did a partition and installed on that and kept my old apps that no longer work on Catalina thanks

Very concise. Excellent quality voice over with screen shots Like others, I need to keep 10.6.8 to run older programs not compatible with 10.11.6. Thanks.

Curious as to how you were using an older version of disk utility than came with El Capitan, and how the drives offered to install the OS onto had different names than the ones on your desktop. Any explanation?

Hi, great presentation. Thanks a mill for sharing. For me its not working. I am on Monterey, created a partition, having El Capitan installer on my USB Stick, dbl clicking on it gives me the message - This copy of the “Install OS X” application is too old to be opened on this version of OS X. - If you have any idea on how to get around of this would be great. Thanks

Thank you for your clear video! The issue I'm running into is that within the Installer I'm not getting a window where I can select the destination of which hard drive I want to download to. Instead it just skips over that step in the installation process and only allows me to download the other OS on the normal Macintosh HD. I'm running MAC OS High Sierra. Any advice?
