Welcome to another episode of BACK 2 BASICS — How to Cut a Bell Pepper 2 Ways🫑. I know how much you you foodies enjoy this series and hope that you can take some new learnings back with you in the kitchen.

I find that most people stand up the bell pepper and either trim the four sides or trim the top and bottom. That for sure can be done however, if you want to save as much of the bell pepper, try using this method 👇next time.

1. Wash, clean and dry the bell pepper.
2. Lay on its side and use a small knife making a slice halfway through and cutting around the stem, keeping as close to it as possible.
3. Remove the stem, core, seeds and inner ribs.
4. Face the inside of the bell pepper down and flatten out to make it easier to cut.
5. You can cut into THIN SLICES, THICK SLICES, or DICED.

For thin and thick slices - you can make stir fry’s or eat them as a snack or serve on a party platter

For diced - you can stir fry, use in soups or curry

And if you’ve always wondered if there’s really a difference in taste of different colored bell pepper… the answer is YES. There can be subtle taste differences. Generally, green peppers tend to have a slightly bitter or less sweet taste compared to the sweeter red, orange, and yellow peppers. The sweetness increases as the pepper ripens and changes color.
