The humble Honda Accord Mk7, also known as the Acura TSX and Accord Euro is an excellent car from a great era. Here's why I love the car.

Car in video: 2007 Honda Accord 2.0 i-VTEC Executive Saloon.

Great homage to this JJ. I ended up buying the MK8 civic as I preferred the practicality of the hatch but I really love this era of Honda, they’re fantastically well made.

Had my old Accord for 10 years, never planned to keep it that long, but it was just so good and you fall in love with them. It was great fun to drive, great chassis, super comfy, lovelemy vtec noise, well specced, superbly built and reliable. Replaced with a newer Civic, would love another Accord one day nd these 7th gen are absolute wonderful cars and great platform to tune.

Had the same gen Accord, and it simply worked. 😊 Had it for 6 years, the longest I've held on to a car. Completely faff free. That I really miss.

In the USA these were called Acura TSX. They had a more luxurious interior and options, sound insulation, and a reworked suspension to give it a smoother and more direct ride, I also believe it received a 205hp F series engine

JJ I got inspired to buy a Honda Accord after seeing your original review a couple of years ago! And it has been above all our expectations! Its a car that I love to drive, feels so well built and it is a very nice to drive in a very old school way! I'm gonna have to switch to somthing else soon because of family growing, but its a car we will miss dearly!

Yep. Agreed. Our 53 plate Jazz shares the same nice click on the indicator stalk.

I had a 2006 UK 2.0L. Best car I ever owned. Had it for over 10 years. Great engine and gearbox. Maintenance care only, no problems at all. Great round town, awesome on the motorway. If you need a good daily find one of these with reasonable mileage and you'll get a winner. The 2.4L must be great fun! Fantastic car. If Honda still sold them new in the UK I would have bought one.

These are such a great car. We had a CL9 Euro 2.4 luxury pack, I paid $3500NZ for it and sold it 3 years later for $4500. Only thing it needed was to rebuild the power steering pump (it’s so good to be able to buy each individual seal inside the pump, how many other cars can you do that on) and had the alternator refurbed.

I’ve always considered these the thinking persons alternative to the E46/E90 (generally considered the benchmark for the class). I like a BMW too, but parts are pricey here.

We also own 2 Honda Jazzes, an ‘08 and a ‘14, and have owned a DC2R, EK4 and a CD6 Accord as well- suffice to say we’re a Honda family. None have ever left me stranded.

I've had the estate 2.4 now for 7 years, one of the best vehicles I've ever owned an absolute monster of reliability

I have the estate 2.0 for over 10 years now. Bought it in 2013 for €4500. It only had 150.000km on it (under 90.000 miles). Best buy ever. Now its over 400.000km (250.000miles) and its still going strong. If well maintained, these vehicles are tanks that will last for a long time.

I have a 2004 Estate 2.2 diesel hand me down from my father. Other than the lack of 6th gear pre face lift and the typical Honda road noise above 100kph - I'd never replace it. I am in love with the estate design(you either hate it or love it nobody's ever in the middle :D ) It's not the most luxurious car but it had pretty much all the bells and whistles for the time and the buttons and controls are just out of this world. Every button is perfectly tactile, clicky or whatever you wanna call it even after 20 years. The stalks are also pure perfection. The leather seats are amazing. And the gear leaver... Oh that gear leaver. After you've driven one of these driving anything else feels like grabbing a chocolate bar that you forgot under direct sun for a few minutes. There are also no creaks and rattles in the interior. Literally none!

Not to mention the boot of the estate, which you can literally get lost in. I've stuffed the radiators from my apartment on one occasion and I've slept in it many times camping. No tent - no problem. You've got a double bed on wheels.

I've been treating the car like crap for 4 years, I'm ashamed to admit, because I can't afford to care for it the way I'd like financially at the moment, but it's been such a Honda about it. Runs like a champ and does 50 mpg with the crap diesel we get here in Bulgaria.
If the phrase 'They don't make them like they used to.' was a car it would be a 7th gen accord.

The best thing about these honda accord is that they hold their value after 2 years of owning it, they can be sold for the same price you brought ii or more.

Thank you so much for posting this. I always looked at these Accords and thought I wanted one but they were overpriced used (at least where I live). But now I can finally see why :)

I really like your car reviews. They are very pleasing to watch. I like your level headed, genuine, natural presentation, of course with lots of good information! As another commenter said, it's like listening to a friend. I have seen your review about the Vauxhall Astra 1.6T that you bought, and this is a car that I am interested in buying at some point when the prices fall.

I had a 2005 Civic Type S with 2.0 Honda K series engine, and boy what a motor. 158bhp of V-tech greatness, but would do 43mpg on my holiday run to Cornwall. I miss that car and I still regret selling it, even though it was 15 years ago.

Manual transmission in Honda cars are excellent from a drivers experience in my opinion I had many Hondas (Jazz, Prelude, Accord, Civic) never dissapointed me that tight short throw stick.
