Bought an ‘86 with 100k miles in high school and drove it through college and beyond. Had over 330k miles on it when I got rid of it. Loved that car. The speed sensitive power steering was great.

I love the 1st generation Accord. To me, that is by far the best looking one, inside and out. I have an 84 CRX, so I'm a fan of old Hondas. That radio is definitely not factory but is period correct. Also, it's engine is transverse, not horizontally opposed (a Subaru or VW old Beetle engine is horizontally opposed)

I currently drive a 10th gen 2020 EXL 2.0t Accord. My last Accord was a bought new 2006 EXL which lasted for 360, 000 miles. I believe one thing that hasn’t changed for all of the generations of Accord is that if you properly keep them maintained you can pretty much guarantee yourself of getting 250, 000 or more miles out of the vehicle. My son and I planned a trip in early May to the Honda Heritage Center in Marysville OH.

What I don’t understand is how they made the 10th gen look so sharp and sporty looking for a few short years and then now the 11th gen looks nowhere near as good.

When I was a kid my parents had a 1980 Honda accord sedan, five speed manual. It was a wonderful car, compared to what else was available at the time. Even then it was considered pretty small but it had a lot of usable space.

Tommy!
Thank you so much for making a video of my childhood cars( 79, 86-89) The Accord community is impressed and proud of your amazing and skillful presentation, i am truly impressed. I am always impressed by your presentations but this time it struck home and I had to comment for my first time. I am a police officer and this video took me away from the tensions of the job and I appreciate you for that.
I now drive a 2002 Acura Types S.
Thank you so much!

My Dad bought one of the first 77 Accord's in Puerto Rico and i loved that car. I had an 81 Civic then an 86 Accord hatchback, an 02 Accord SE and now slug along in a 14 Accord sport. Great cars all around.

I had new Gen 1 Accord. LOVED that thing!
It was absolutely bullet proof and I drove the crap out of it including auto crossing.
Wonderful car for the day.

Thanks for the memories, Tommy. The first car I bought was a new 1980 Accord LX 5-speed. Kind of a copper color with gold interior. The clutch was feather light and the shifter was butter smooth. Lots of fun, especially coming from a '69 Bonneville! I'm 6'4" and I had plenty of room. Not very fast, but you know what they say about driving a slow car fast...

I recall used late 70's Accords being owned by college friends in the 80's. I was always amazed at their smoothness and refinement compared to the smaller American cars at the time...Chevy Citation etc

1st gen Accord was such a great vehicle. My parents owned 3, over 200k on each. Simplistic, functional, and fun to drive with the manual transmission.

First year of the 1.8l was 79.
This is a 76-78 model Accord with the 1.6.
Pretty light car.
Had a 78 and a 79.
Great cars.

The 1st gen Accord was part of the fleet used in chase scenes on CHiPs.

Fun video to watch. I wish you would have mentioned the actual weight of the first gen vs. the newest model. Also, you mentioned the thin a-pillar in the first gen, the wider a-pillar may make the passengers safer in the event of a roll over, but it creates a pretty huge blindspot. My mom was hit, walking across a crosswalk, by a car making a lefthand turn, and I am sure she was in the blindspot created by the a-pillar.

This video brings back my memory. I had a 79 Accord when I was high school senior in 1992. Mine was 1.8 but produced same 72hp. Loves it!

Learned to drive in an 86 hatchback Accord pretty much like that one, Tobacco color, the first modern car in the days of the Datsuns and the Corollas, where the Mcpherson springs were all around the vehicle, the most logical dash cluster, and excellent all-around driving position and cristal clear outside view.

That door chime was pleasant! Unlike the the Ford chime that makes me want to drive off a bridge 😂

I love the 1989-1993 Honda Accord. It's the one I remember the most growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. I would see the 4th gen Honda Accord everywhere, some are still around today, but are rusted, and have loud exhaust sounds, they run, but roughly lol.

The 10th gen looks newer and more beautiful than the 11th gen. Don’t know what they were thinking. The front end looks like a 2024 Mustang made in china😅

One of the absolute best TFL car reviews ever... Lots of them go into boring/joking details...this was true to a review and amazing to see the comparison from the first through the latest generation! 🎉
