Note: The new V1 Gen 2 is NOT simply an old V1 with a new display. It's significantly better under the hood. While we do our testing on that which takes time to do, this is a quick video so you can see what the new display is like without a knob. There's much more to talk about which I'll cover in upcoming videos. Stay tuned... :)

They should've kept the signature knobs, it seems counter-intuitive to have to use another finger to support the bottom while using the volume buttons

I much prefer the original volume knob on the V1.

I just sold my V1 from 2002 on eBay for more than double the trade-in offered. Now just waiting for some side-by-side comparisons with R7 and Max360. Apples-to-apples. :-) Keep up the great work! Thank you!

I was a long term user of the V1 - have 3 of them. They have served me well. I tried the R7 and really into the programming, colors and sounds. Like the way you can program out "noisy" areas. And it has a measurable drop of bogies compared to the V1. But I do like the double dial instead of holding buttons. In the city the R7 has been perfect. I was having remorse hearing that the new V1 was going to be released. Now I am happy with my R7 decision. Just turning into a Uniden fan boy with my BEARTRACKER 885 (Love it), SDS100, SDS200 and now the R7s.

Why does this company continue to use an outdated display system with a single 7 seg and bunch of single LEDs, why not have a proper LCD/OLED screen like every other OEM? Anyways great vid, happy with my R3!

My first impression new V1 remove the knob little disappointed!! Pretty sure performing is more important as well but I wish keep the new design and keep the knob together..

I’m currently in the market for a new detector so this is great timing! I’ve had my V1 gen 1 since 2010 and I need a second detector for another car. Was considering an Escort 360 Max (non c) or Uniden R7.

As a V1 user for 10 years I am naturally drawn to the V1 gen 2 and want to know if it’s worth buying over what’s currently on the market. Any tests planned to compare it to the 360 max or R7? They’re all comparably priced it seems.

I have a feeling the V1G2 will be the new detecting beast. Mike’s goal is not to cancel signals, but to detect everything possible from the greatest distance within the given band width. Many police officers have started using their guns next to gps lockout points. What happens if you lockedout exactly when the police where shooting there gun? I have never seen the v1 fail in the real world to give me a signal if something was there. Totally agree it can be annoying getting false alerts, but i rather a false alert than no alert.

Have a v1 gen 1. So tempted to gen the gen2 so i don't have to move the detector as frequently between cars. Seems nice. Not having the knob will take getting use to tho

Great videos thanks for the content. To me, Valentine 1 is still the standard, I truly believe that. You mention the new button is bad, I look forward to it because when I go to mute the detector in it’s current form I always manage to turn the volume down, and pretty soon it goes to silent without mute. Bad design or my bad. I am pretty stoked about the new button volume platform. I never adjust it once I set it. Website will be live tomorrow, trading an old one and keeping an updated Gen 1 to compare. Always trust you, never trust an auto setting. 😎

I've waited for over a year to sell my two V1s and get four new V1s (Gen2)! I should have just sold and bought four R7s a year ago..but Valentine kept baiting me every month that "they'll be available next month"! My bad, I don't care for the V1G2 without the knob, so I guess I'll need four new BM "clamps" and four R7s (especially since Valentine raised the price)!!
