So, I have a genuine question, do the vodka leave a taste in the cake, or since it's mainly alcohol it evaporate while cooking? And does it taste a little bit like vodka if it's in a crème, like a buttercream, since it's not cooked?

I recommend everclear or 95% grain alcohol because you'll get a stronger flavor that way. I'm using 99% alcohol because I want the extract to be both oil and water soluble.

You need 1 oz beans per 8oz of alcohol. Rum is best. If you cut beans in peices & shake very often (try everyday) at minimum they will be done at 6 months but the best is at 12 months.
