Ive been running an old Cpu with my 4090 for two years, and all is well.

2016 i7-6950 Extreme o/c 4ghz
X99 deluxe mobo
Quad channel 64GB ddr4 @3200
40 PCIe lanes, 10 cores.

Runs StarCitizen 4.0.1 into the high 80 frames. Highest detail. High clouds.

Which is all good considering im using three 4k screens in spanning mode for 11520 x 2160
