Lyrics

Midnight on the water.
I saw the ocean's daughter.
Walking on a wave's chicane
Staring as she called my name.
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
‘Cause I can't get it out of my head
Breakdown on the shoreline
Can't move, it's an ebbtide.
Morning don't get here till night
Searching for her silver light.
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head, no no
Bank job in the city
Robin Hood and William Tell and Ivanhoe and Lancelot, they don't envy me, yeah
Sitting till the sun goes down,
In dreams the world keep going round and round.
And I can't get it out of my head,
No, I can't get it out of my head.
Now my old world is gone for dead
Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no, no, no

No, I can't get it out of my head.
No, I can't get it out of my head.
Now my old world is gone for dead
Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no, no, no

Once upon a time there was actually a period when music was worth listening to.... add this song to that list.

The 60s and the 70s was the greatest music ever. Best time to be a teenager living in north Philly. Didn't realize that we were listening to the greatest music of all time. It's just the greatest time to be a teenager. The shit they call music now ha ha 😅 it's not music. Sad feel sorry for the kids now days they don't have all the great things we had

I feel sorry for all the teenagers of today that don't have real artists today that makes music this good. The 60's and 70's were the best music. ELO, one of the best.

One of my top ELO songs, and I STILL love it! 😊❤️ (Btw: at 0:38, I think they're singing "she came" instead of "chicane". To me, "she came" rhymes better with "my name". But then again, a wave's "chicane" would mean a wave's "deception" - so I guess it could be correct. Regardless, it's still a great song!)

There's nothing quite like a song about being suicidal. It's a fantastic song to listen to when depressed. Makes that dark water look inviting. Not as much a tear-jerker as Comfortably Numb, but awesome in its own right.
