I don't know what it is with me and Joe Abercrombie. When he first released the First Law trilogy I devoured them and was a huge fan. I read that and his stand alones and from Sharp Ends on I quit and tried getting back into it with "A Little Hatred" I have started it a few times and am struggling so much.
Happy to read u and Jessie Mae want to continue with the buddy reads. At the beginning of 2021, when I was still at home looking after my toddler, I tried to join you guys but somehow never really did. But I own "The Twelve kKings of Sharakai" on my Kindle so I might "join" you guys.

the Stardust Thief, I want to get to it in May hopefully I can. I have literally not heard anyone else talking about it. And Book of Night, I'm curious about it. I think it's the May Illumicrate book so I'll be getting that one for sure

The Heroes is my favourite out of Abercrombie's books because of the military themes and the philosophical questions around heroes, right and wrong and whether there are victors in war. Not a book to pick up if you're not in a state of mind to deal with heavy questions and themes though, mind you. Red Country is my least appreciated book of J.A, I've never vibed with the story but I see why some do and there are some nice bits I guess.
I'm so glad for these videos because you constantly introduce new books I haven't heard of that I feel like I'd want to read. So, thanks again!

I just pre-ordered The Stardust Thief audiobook last night, very excited for it!

I’m really looking forward to Holly Black’s first Adult novel. I hope it’s just as twisty plot-wise as Cruel Prince. I loved the political intrigue in that trilogy. I hope the freedom of the ‘Adult’ label allows Black to get even more crazy with her plot and a bit darker of course (I think you’re right that it really seems like she has to hold herself back in some ways in YA). I’m excited to see what this book does!

There are so many books on this tbr I'm also excited to read! Especially Elektra, I recently finished Ariadne and really enjoyed it, so I'm interested to see more from the author. Also, Juniperand Thorn, I liked The Wolf and the Woodsman but didn't love it so I'm hoping I'll like this one better.

Girl, I get it. 2020 was sooo difficult for me as well and then Covid made it even more difficult. 2021 was interesting for sure. This year, so far, is finding myself again. I’m reading again and feel great about it. Good luck with your reads. I would like to read a few of those myself.
