Omg this is such a fun idea. Mood reader TBR loop hole. Love it! 📚

Confession: I adore making TBR lists and putting twists on things I’ve seen other readers do to pick theirs. If you really want to get crazy, I’ll tell you what I do sometimes. I have a worksheet on my phone with 180 prompts. Some more specific, some very generalized, some of my favorites are repeated throughout. I use a random number generator and pick three then try to find a book that fulfills them all. Sometimes I have to pick a new one because it just won’t work if it’s 1.) a book I purchased last year and 2.) something that released in the current month. Second confession: I never stick to these TBRs and instead just read whatever in the hell I want to anyway in the moment. Third confession: Zero guilt. It makes me happy to make the TBR lists and then it makes me happy to read whatever I want to read when I want to read it. People creating content have to stop putting pressure on themselves. The way I see it, the only obligations you owe are to authors/publishers that you requested ARCs from. Beyond that, y’all do you. I also make lists of books I’ve bought this year, new and backlist. Then just 2022 releases I own. I make seasonal TBR lists, and most anticipated in any given genre I enjoy. I use dice and the number generator, I change it up. Then totally ignore it for the most part. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wait this is a fantastic idea! I think I might need to take my own spin on this. I always have my three oldest kiddos pick my books for me because I'm often *so* indecisive when it comes to what I want to read next.

As a mood reader myself, I love this idea! Because while I do mood read, I crave structure too. Definitely will be using this list or something similar!! 📚

This is similar to how my friend and I theme our months. We have a general prompt and can read anything that fits into it. It leaves so much flexibility for reading what you feel like and prevents slumps! 📚

Awesome for you! I recently gave up making a list of books for my TBR as well and moved more towards goals for the month. It makes life so much more enjoyable as a mood reader lol

This is a great way to still choose books in a fun way and not restrict yourself to certain books you may not be in the mood for. Can’t wait to see what you end up reading! 📚

Biggest hidden gem on KU to me is a romantic fantasy series by Carissa Broadbent, the War of Lost Hearts series. First book is called Daughter of No Worlds, it‘s a trilogy, all books are already out. It‘s a really epic high fantasy series with a really healthy romance in the middle of it. It starts out with the FMC becoming the apprentice of the MMC, a grumpy wizard… If you like Sarah J Maas books, I‘m sure you‘ll enjoy this series. I will never stop recommending it because it is seriously so good, both the fantasy parts as well as the romance.

I also mood read using several themed lists that I make up myself (e.g vampires, robots, djinn, steampunk, etc), or I use prompts from readathons, currently I'm doing Medievalathon and the Asian Readathon, both of which have pretty flexible prompts! 📚

I really like this idea. I’ve been struggling with reading books on my tbr lately. I’ve been all over the place not really knowing what I’m in the mood for. 📚

I do something similar, I do a roulette wheel filled with prompts and I cycle between 3 books, so when I finish one I pick another prompt. Typically I have these books in different genres because sometimes I'm just not in the mood for that genre 😅

You should definitely read “Not the Witch You Wed” when you’re in the romance mood. It’s so good!! And there’s 2 more books in the series coming out. 📚📚

I think I’ll do the prompt idea for my summer TBR! I can’t wait to see which books you pick for each prompt! 📚

I love the idea of making a TBR every month and sticking to it, but I can’t do. As soon as I feel like I HAVE to read something, I don’t want to, which stresses me out because I won’t finish my TBR, etc.

So anyway, your TBR of prompts is a great idea, and it might be the solution to my problem. Thank you! I could even make a game out of it!

I love that bookshelf behind you! I have the same one and not only does it feel like a work of art, but it is also great for being a TBR shelf.
