Thanks for video doublewide6 i was having this issue with my smoke detector, every time i put a new battery in it, it would beep about every 2 min, so i blew it out with some compressed air and now its been working fine for about 6 hours.

My power went out for a few seconds and my three detectors all are now chirping, even with new battery. You convinced me to do what I was wondering about. Just unplug them in the back.

And leave them that way, forever. I hate those things. The stupid thing is that those things are worthless for our situation anyway. 1, 000 sq ft, 1/4 mile from the road and ten miles from any fire hydrant. And we're both over sixty. I'd love to go in my sleep. But the odds of this actually happening are so remote that the likelihood of it happening are statistically zero.

Yes it does matter. If the green light is not on you need to replace the smoke detector.

Thanks for the tips, I am going to try that right now. My smoke detector just started chirping, I replaced the 9 volt hit the reset button and it's still chirping, soooo I am going to try blowing it all out so if it has any cob webs it will clean up. Thanks again!

Your video and instructions are informative. The issue with my smoke alarm is that it is wired throughout the house and the settings are too sensitive to heat. If I open my oven door, it goes off! It is so loud and annoying. It scares me every time plus the neighbors can hear it! ;(

When I took out battery and pulled out door, it chirped even faster. My problem was that door would not close, not for anything even right orientation of battery or no battery. But I was at my wits end\. I didnt know you could completely unplug it. Thank you at least I now know to take it down so and I can fight with the door to get it closed and then put it back on the ceiling. You saved me and the life of one of my small dogs who had to have dived on to me at least 50 time even on the keyboard while I"m trying watch video 1 am in morning. Thank you

Thank you so much. The one in our bedroom would not stop chirping, even when I took out the batteries. I was about to cut the wires.  From your example, I figured out how to slip it out from the wires and can finally sleep.  Don't mess with a pregnant woman!
