I agree with most comments that you should wait for the sugar itself to melt at least before adding water. Otherwise popcorn coating will taste grainy and overly sweet

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tbsp butter
pinch salt
pinch baking soda

It crystalized you dunce. Lol

The end product is all grainy and wet and not crunchy. I just made this same mistake today.

The problem is that you stirred too much while the sugar was melting. That triggered the reaction.

Swirl, not stir.

guys, pls don’t stir the sugar at the beginning like she did. at the end it looked grainy and dampish which means that it crystallised. swirl the pan around, pls don’t stir
