Gothic Heavy Armor

Gothic heavy armor refers to the armor worn by soldiers and knights during the Gothic period, which spanned from the 3rd to the 8th century AD. The armor was characterized by its weight, durability, and effectiveness in battle.

During the Gothic period, armor was made of a variety of materials, including leather, bronze, and iron. Leather armor was the most common, but as warfare became more advanced, metal armor became more prevalent.

Gothic heavy armor was typically made of iron or steel, which offered superior protection compared to other materials. It consisted of several components, including a helmet, breastplate, backplate, gauntlets, greaves, and sabatons. These components were often decorated with intricate designs and engravings, showcasing the wealth and status of the wearer.

One of the most notable examples of Gothic heavy armor is the Sutton Hoo helmet, which was discovered in England in the 1930s. The helmet, which dates back to the 7th century AD, is made of iron and is decorated with gold, garnet, and other precious materials.

Gothic heavy armor was used by soldiers and knights in battles and wars throughout the Gothic period. It provided excellent protection against weapons such as swords, axes, and spears, and was often used in conjunction with shields to create an impenetrable defense.

Over time, as warfare evolved and became more advanced, heavy armor fell out of favor and was replaced by lighter, more mobile armor. However, the legacy of Gothic heavy armor lives on, and its influence can still be seen in the armor worn by soldiers and knights in medieval and Renaissance-era Europe.

To defeat a knight you find the gaps in the armor: the gaps

This is not armor from 15th century, but from 16th.

This isn’t gothic armour and not 15th century but still I appreciate the attempt to disprove that u couldn’t move in armour. I hate that misconception

The craftsmanship is stunning. Armor is some of the most beautiful form of craftmanship ever. Every work is a piece of art.

Dude, imagine how long this thing took to put on a regular basis. And it looks more flexible than any nanosuit Stark made.

The articulating plates on the inside of the elbows and back of the knees is sexy.

Could you imagine fighting someone in that? Unless you had a war pick or something similar like a mace, they're invulnerable nearly. Terrifying

The one suit of plate armor that deserves to be expensive.

If I ever get my hands on a suit of plate I’m going straight to a con

The craftsmanship of the metalworkers to get the joints so flawlessly is beyond astounding.

This is genuinely incredible even by todays standards. Sure we can mass produce things of decent quality but no machine can produce something with this level of articulation or craftsmanship. I can't imagine how long suits of this quality took to make. Absolutely incredible

That’s human ingenuity right there, now I’d like to see how he put that one so tight and I presume he can’t gain weight or that wouldn’t fit. I’d also like to know how he goes to the bathroom in it. What is worn underneath to prevent blisters and blunt force trauma?

This armor was probably late 16th-mid 17th period armor.

This kind of plate in the joints is more 16th century and be very expensive even for nobles
Before this was a competition to see how large narrow you could make the exposed joints without compromising mobility and leaving less toom for splinters and points to get into

Imagine what newer evolutions of armour may have looked like if guns were not invented, I could imagine current day soldiers wearing halo style full body suits made of composite armour
