As an old man now and a former USN sailor, (1974-1984), I will interject on one item only. All though US carriers are nuclear powered, they do carry a VERY large amount of fuel. In my day it was JP 5 or high octane jet fuel. Obviously, a carrier that can not launch planes for a lack of jet fuel is nothing more than a cruise ship. Also, destroyer / cruiser escorts can burn this jet fuel as well so a carrier, if needed can refuel it's escorts. HOWEVER, there still has to be a supply chain of ships to feed fuel / ordnance / food / spare parts and anything else needed to keep the battle group on station for extended periods of time. So, the real advantage of nuclear power over oil is the 10 years the carrier can go with out re-fueling the ship proper.

Carriers work much better when they are not traveling in reverse

Carrier operations are very dangerous. I know, i worked on them as a plane captain/ troubleshooter on the F-14. It was a blast! Especially when we were in a conflict. When planes are landing and taking off at the same time (called a flex deck). Fueling and reloading as well. The crew is amazing.

Never underestimate your enemy. That’s why I’m glad the U.S. always continues to improve on its tech, because as much as we make fun of foes tech and weapons. It’s always a major advantage to never stop innovating.

9:22 having a range of 100 miles is useless if you can't lock on to the target at more than 12 miles.

Not to mention there will be 3 Ford class ships finished soon to go along with the 10 Nimitz class ships already in operation.

Honestly, I have serious doubts they could install a functioning electromagnet launcher anyways. Their brand new flight deck has catastrophic structural issues in several areas. But thats my opinion, paper tiger.

The bad thing about all these advanced weapons is the supply chains. When a war starts and drags on for years, it will be hard to replace loses and can't easily be scaled up to operate in different factories.

From start to end of this video we are seeing how the U.S.’s platforms yield more power than the sum of their parts. Call it force multipliers or whatever way you conceptualize it, one PLA aircraft carrier equals a fraction of the potency of one U.S. aircraft carrier.

It will take 30 years from the time China has comparable hardware to have crews capable of being on par with US carriers. Training crews isn't simple, quick or easy.

Japanese and American submarines will be happy to convey "greetings" to the Chinese aircraft carrier.

***Chinese pilot tries to fire at American ship***

His headset: "The Bluetooth device is ready to fire the missile"

Chinese pilot: 😥

You can rip off all the military tech you want which China does. You cannot rip off the 100yrs+ experience of carrier operations needed to be effective.

Although at the beginning of WW2 the situation was similar with the American carriers being untested, the battle of Midway changed that imbalance rather quickly as I recall. Just saying, combat can change things dramatically. Go Navy 👍

Another thing that must always be in mind when talking about Carriers is when they are actually operating in war times, there is a whole strike force or strike fleet backing them up. Destroyers and Submarines are always one step close to guarantee 100% operational capabilites and maximize survivability, all the more reasons that Aircraft Carriers are so resilient
