Top 10 Latter-day Saint teachings that could CHANGE

In this episode I'm going to share with you my Top 10 list of current teachings/practices in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that could change. To be perfectly clear: This video is not about advocacy in any direction. On a personal level, I think some of these changes would be great, and others... not so much. But saying which changes are and are not right for the Church is simply not my lane, and I fully sustain those leaders whose lane it is.

It can sometimes be confusing or even painful when something we didn't think could change... changes. For that reason, I think it's healthy to examine our own assumptions and really think about what actually can and cannot change. The purpose of this video is simply to explore some of those possibilities. Maybe some of these changes will happen next week! Or maybe in a year. Maybe in a century. Maybe never. We'll see!

As a Temple Worker, when arrive the meetings before we start the Ordinances, there have been times that I Am Overwhelmed with Joy and Spirit to see all those Temple Workers in WHITE.

They Look like A Flock of ANGELS !!!

God Bless All the Temple Workers Throughout the World !!!

As a member, I appreciate you putting the research and time into this video. You weren't calling for action or starting the best solution. You pointed out things that were policies and not doctrine. The Church can and will change as it becomes closer and closer to being fully restored

The words of wisdom is needed. So many young adults in the church don't drink coffee but will dring 2 - 3 cans of Monsters which is much worse than coffee could ever be.

This is why we need to have a testimony of Jesus Christ, prophets, and the scriptures, not one based on culture, community, and tradition. We will all be tested on these things.

When I was on my mission (hundreds of years ago) we were teaching the Word of Wisdom to an investigator. He asked "Why doesn't your church say something about all the additives and harmful substances in our food?" I answered that for now, he's asking us to obey just a short list. When we can all understand it and obey, our minds would be open to other things we should avoid without being commanded. Obeying in small things provides inspiration and insight to additional things that might be specifically just for us.

D&C 58
30 Who am I that made man, saith the Lord, that will hold him guiltless that obeys not my commandments? 31 Who am I, saith the Lord, that have promised and have not fulfilled? 32 I command and men obey not; I revoke and they receive not the blessing.

I believe that we must live all
God's commitments or we don't receive the blessing

Technically, we all pass the sacrament once the trays leave the hands of priesthood holders who administer the sacrament. 😊

Even more difficult for many members to accept is when leaders address cultural practices incorrectly attributed as doctrinal. Facial hair, church clothing styles, caffeinated drinks... those are culturally-based policies or interpretations - not doctrine.

It's a myth that Tithing was given as a lesser law and that we're no longer under Consecration. We're not under the United Order, but Consecration remains in effect. Both Tithing and Consecration co-exist in the Church and serve different purposes. Tithing is for running the Church, whereas Consecration in the form of the United Order was a larger economic system for distributing and sharing resources among the Saints. Somebody would have property deeded to them from Consecrated property, and they would tithe from the increase they created. It wasn't either/or. We are still fully under Consecration, we just don't implement it through the United Order, we instead determine on our own how to use everything we've been given in the service of others and God.

My stepson said he wishes he could do a summer mission vs a 2 week mission.

The word of wisdom says that it was given in light of evil designs of conspiring men. If that situation changes it could certainly change how we read the revelation.

People eat tons of sugar, energy drinks and much more things that are far worst than coffee.

I respectfully disagree with some of this video

If it does, it will spit in the face of every last member who has faithfully kept the commandment all their lives!
My grandfather gave it up on the day his 6 year old daughter come home from church telling him it was bad and against the word of wisdom.
That was back in 1933 and in all our family, one one has not kept to that lesson.

All good points to consider. This is why we believe in ongoing revelation, line upon line...

Speculation is nothing more than that. The First Presidency has specifically asked members not to discuss matters that are speculative because they have consistently been the source of contention within the Church. Of course, contentions and disputation are of the devil and lead to the loss of the Spirit.

So why even discuss them?

I like that the Church is open for changes, but I really miss when we used to have 3 hour meetings on Sundays.

Sometimes members forget we have the 9th Article of Faith for a reason. I for one love seeing things evolve improve for the better.
