Breaking News: The tragic death of Anna Sebastian Perayil has ignited a nationwide conversation about corporate culture in India. In a heart-wrenching letter to EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani, Anna’s mother alleges that extreme work pressure contributed to her daughter’s demise. Memani expressed regret for not attending Anna's funeral, stating that such incidents have never happened before and pledging a commitment to staff well-being and a harmonious workplace. However, EY continues to deny that work stress was a factor in her death.

Narayana Murthy, Chairman of Infosys, recently suggested that people in India should work 70 hours a week. The implications of this statement are already being felt, although it is unclear how many hours employees are currently being asked to work following his remarks.

Before criticizing multinational corporations, it is crucial to hold our own leaders—such as chairmen and directors—accountable for fostering such work cultures. This issue spans across sectors, including private hospitals. There is an urgent need for regulations to prevent this from becoming the norm.

Rather than advocating for a 70-hour workweek, why not propose a more balanced approach? For instance, introducing two shifts of 37.5 hours each could help employ more individuals, which is essential in a country like India where unemployment is rising. This approach would allow companies to maintain productivity without overburdening employees, while also giving workers more time for personal life and well-being.

Mr Memani.. you dont have any rights to remain in that seat. Please step down.

Dont say that you are not aware of the situation and how things are in your company. You are filling coffers with blood money.

Rajiv Memani melted my heart- what a big hearted man💛. His comment suggested he typically goes to or sends as a long held custom someone or himself to death funerals of 26 year young freshers. To others it may seem like sugar coating and possibly sophisticated polished words sort of going overboard to hide sarcasm but to me he is a father who would attend Obama's daughters death funeral with equal compassion and readiness as he would a common fresher girl in India not to mention his own daughters funeral. I would want my boss (company's India or global head) to come to cousin's funerals if that is how Indian managers have typically done in the past as a long standing history. To give me solace. A head on his shoulders and his wiping my tears would make me a national sensation in a jiffy..

Our heart goes out to Anita Augustine Mother of victim Anna Sebastian who lost her life as a young girl full of dreams at such a young age to the work pressure of these Audit firms - this culture exists in all over especially (E&Y, PWC, KPMG) the fresh CA’s are put in such strains by their Team Leaders until they rise to Managers then the same shit happens at the bottom, the young kids it’s their 1st job after acquiring their CA certification - the company Top management should take cognizance to overcome such murder.

We pray that Almighty God Grant Eternal Rest to Anna’s departed Soul Amen 🕯🕯🕯& strength to Anna’s family.

It's not only overwork..there are so much politics in office just to entertain manager, senior, head and rest of all employees..all of them harassing, mentally torturing, any single employee who is mostly either have no experience, or freshers ..all these happens to please either manager or senior manager or head to create intimidating environment, to satisfy their ego frustration etc and in most of the cases these managers, senior managers or head any one of them belong south india or state like karnataka, tamilnadu, Kerala, gujrat then all these have to have in company and those who don't want to participate in harassing, bulleying then will thrown out of the company..and all these things happen to satify the ego, frustration and create intimidating factor but they will call it we disciplining her or him so it's like 100 of PPL harassing bulleying any oner person who is fresher..these kind politics cause loss to company comparing to those manager who dont do politics but their ego is so big that they will have to do ot to satisfy their ego n frustration even after loss..these media PPL r not talking abt politics which is causing the death of thousand of employees everyday either they r stupid enough to not to know about all these politics in corporate or they r scared to speak about
