Listening to Mona is like a warm blanket being placed over my heart. Thank you for reminding me that it’s about safety and how to help our kiddos feel safe.
I hope Mona is doing well and feeling better.

My daughter is 10 and refusing school every day it's a struggle. I cry she cries. It's aweful. She's in therapy and we don't know what's the problem

When I began full school days in first grade (1969) I lived in rural Iowa, which meant long bus rides (more than an hour) on bumpy unpaved roads twice a day in a crowded noisy overheated bus full of screaming kids.
I'd leave home at 7:30 and not get back until 4:30 - 5:00. That's a 9+ hour day, for a 6 year old kid.
Why didn't anyone see the stress this was putting my under?

If rewards are not what works (and I know what you’re saying), what does? How do I get my child to feel “safe” at school when school causes her anxiety and the physical feelings that come with that?

Teachers don’t care often times. It seems to me that they are offended by a child who is afraid they don’t know how to deal with it and it only makes things worse the Lord over a child that’s having an episode like vultures I seen this firsthand and I was intimidated by what I seen and I was not the person that it was on. It was a six-year-old child. How terrifying

This was going pretty promising then went to nothing in the tips to do that only lasted seconds compared to the whole walk around she ranted on. Thanks for the help.. no wonder why this video only has 17 comments in 3 years SMH

So where is the answer what to do? generally everyone says things that are obvious that the kid feels anxious. yes, and what do we do and how? no one tells how to cope that.

This video offered no solutions. Do you have a better follow-up? I'm not the only person who had a disappointed take-away here. If you have another video that could be helpful, could you please share? Thank you.

That was kind of useless... you basically described what the issue is, what parents already know. No solution or anything.

Very helful video . But my Child simply refuses to go to School . Every night before going to bed she quotes the same sentence " Dada I dont want to go to school " . This is too frustrating and stressful for parents . And in the morning she will often cry and resist to get ready . Its been 5 weeks since she started her school . Being a 4 year and in reception we thought it will be fun as my daughter likes socialising. I even spoke to her Teacher and her response was like " your daughter is very happy in school and there are no red flags" . One thing she did bring to my attention was that in the beginning her classmates were not so welcoming to her . My daughter joined 4 week post the actual joining date of school, so she was treated like a new student in class. Perhaps her classmates didnt treat her well and she felt alienated. I am doing everything possible to maintain a healthy communication with her teacher but the problem is that Teacher does not see any problem in school . So the real issue is how do I convince my daughter to get ready for school without she getting grumpy and mad at me in the morning .I really cant see her crying helplessly. Its too overwhelming. Can you please help ?

Let them stay home. Tell them it's ok. They never have to be educated. They won't need it. They can just sit & watch TV their whole life. Give them what they want. 😂

Just let them stay home and school there. EZ solution. I did and was much happier and learned more.

You government school board are talking out of your backside, mate you keep on chatting about parents responsibilities your the biggest jokers on this planet. You have stripped parents of everything that had to discipline children. Man parents can’t shout never mind smack.and the kids know this.this Britain is a mess with the young growing up without corporal punishment.and you know it mate. So don’t make parents anymore sick to the teeth with trying to blame them by saying it’s what’s going on at home.
