Having lived with a mother suffering from depression, Julie shares the pain & anguish of not understanding what was happening. Julie demystifies mental illness and promotes and open dialogue on this issue.
Unknowingly, at the age of 12 , Julie Vincelette lived the most decisive experience of her life as she witnessed her mother collapse from pure exhaustion and fall into a severe depression lasting six long years.
As a teenager, Julie saw first-hand the devastation that mental illness causes for those who suffer from it and their families. By age 18, she promised to take action to to demystify the impact of mental illness and promote inner balance.
A graduate from Mc Gill University with a degree in Physical Therapy, Julie practiced for six years in the United States. Back in Quebec, she has pursued a career as a pharmaceutical representative in the field of psychiatry.
Julie is the author of Les missions de Julia Léveillée, a series of young-adult fiction that deals with mental illness: her first volume talks about schizophrenia through the use of a compassionate voice, her second invites the reader into the heart and life of a 12 year old boy suffering from ADHD and dyslexia while her third book, scheduled to be published for December 2014, will address general anxiety disorders.
She is also the co-author of L’effet Popcorn, volume 1 and 2. Author, speaker and columnist , Julie Vincelette wants to encourage everyone to explore their inner life in order to discover their personal power.
