Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? (Live Aid 1985)

Band Aid performing at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

i was only 4 years old when this happened..i was watching live with my family. As yje years roll on I've grown to love this concert more and more. And the one thing that makes me sad is i wasnt old enough back in 85 to REALLY enjoy this day. Looking back in retrospective, it was probably the greatest day on planet earth thus far.

Freddie was disciplined enough to not touch the mic....because he knew no one else would have the courage to receive it after him, so he would have stolen the show for the 100th him to bits
As for Bowie, always the dashing one, suited up....I miss them both

If I had a Time Machine, on my top five things to do is to go to this concert. Kids today have NO IDEA what this was like. Not a single person holding a phone, posting #bandaid and making duck faces. When we went to a concert, you were there. 100%. And what an absolutely amazing group of talent. If only I could go back in time and witness it live.

Imagine it, the middle of summer, a baking hot day, you’ve been in your feet for hours, and you’ve just witnessed the greatest concert of all time, everyone comes out at the end to sing a Christmas song, and absolutely everyone is having the time of their life. Would have been incredible to have been there. That shot of the crowd bouncing just after George at 1.25ish, they’re loving it!!
