Abstract Algebra 25: Permutations and permutation groups
Abstract: We define permutations, which are one-to-one and onto functions from a set to itself. We also introduce permutation groups, which are collections of permutations which form a group under function composition. In particular, if n is an integer, then the symmetric group S_n is the group of all permutations of the set {1,2,3,...,n}.
