"Journey to Gem Island" is a prototype demonstrating 3D Book layering, a book creation technique developed by Frances Yun. It is complex process in which every page is a silhouette that interacts with and is composed of every other page in the book. In contrast to standard cut out books, which progress linearly, a 3D layered book can progress in any direction and thus must be holistically designed.
