The buildings were beautiful back in those days, modern architecture is so plain. The people also dressed so nice.

These people had no idea that they would be watched over 100 years later. That is amazing!!!

So amazing to see this area over 100 yrs ago. Can't tell you how many times I have driven in that area.
I am always hoping to catch a glimpse of my grandparents and my dad as a baby. All 4 grandparents Came from Italy in the first decade of the 1900s. Sadly, I probably wouldn't recognize them if they walked by the camera😔
Whoever does this channel, thank you so much!!! I especially love NY movies because I grew up in NY (WestchesterCounty) and sang in Manhattan. Watching these old movies makes you realize...life was so simple back then.
My dad was born in 1917. His mom was a seamstress. She worked across the street from the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. She remembered the fire (she was only 17 at the time, 1911) and saw all the bodies lined up on the sidewalk. 😢

My grandmother would have been 25 when this was taken. She was born and grew up in NYC. She would tell me about the old days in NY and the things she saw. I wish I had recorded her stories. 😢

Anyone who is 115 years old can look back at this with pure amazement. The passage of time.

No TV, internet, cellphones, social media. And civilization did just fine.

I come here for the comments first, and secondly for nostalgic feelings that are conjured up by this wonderful window to the past. Its funny how we can feel nostalgic about a time or place we never experienced first hand. It makes me think of how fleeting and fragile life is...and how much we have in common😢.✌😊

My mother, born 1905 in Liverpool, would tell us kids all about her life before WW1, and how terrible it was for the poor, how tough it was in school, and riots too.

Imagine a time when people had no smart phones and they were actually engaging with people and looking up while walking.
