Hi Sujit- last statement of your. I’m not agreeing as making the division. In fact Rahul talks about inclusivity unlike other about divisiveness. Rahul was right to express so. Also he is different of his predecessors so can’t compare with past. Why to drag to the past when we talk more equality now a days

I think raising the absences of lower castes in the distribution of budget halwa is not divisive. It is pointing out inequality. It is pointing out marginalisation.
And merit as a basis for inclusion and advancement is fine if everyone starts from a broadly similar base. If not affirmative action is necessary, and the only way to bring about inclusion over the long term.
And finally the fact that when Congress was distributing budget halwa there were no Dalits or adivasis present and not are there today makes Rahul Gandhi’s point. Nothing has changed for those marginalised communities.
So I think he was right, on all the points you mentioned where you disagree with him.
