The new U7 Pro Wall is one of the latest Wi-Fi 7 access points from Ubiquiti - and this one has a trick up its sleeve! It can disappear into walls with the flush mount accessory and paintable cover. Let's talk about it!

The in wall concept will only work if Unifi will continue to make future models that will work with the same in wall plate. I don't want to deal with modifying or covering up the hole when I upgrade this AP.

I'm SO GLAD you said there is one coming with the switch port. Because when I saw this today in the email I was so so so sad it didn't have it.

I'm just glad to see a wifi 7 access point that isn't ceiling focused or a big round dome and runs on poe+. The fact that they also have a stand so you can place on a table is a bonus. I'm also glad they are making one without switchport which I have no need for as I find them too restricting.

Just ordered one last night to replace one of my two AC In-wall APs. Glad I held off on the second one, as it's in a location where I would like to have the switch ports available in the bottom of the AP. Thanks for the review and update. Appreciate your content.

We definitely painted a few APs both indoors and for WISP work. I think the paintable covers should have been something they made for all APs a long time ago, the "designer" covers always looked a little strange. Many stores with the "industrial" look to them have a black painted open ceiling, so hanging a matt white AP off it looked bad.

thank you for your great reviews as always. After buying 2x U7 AP pro .. I decided to add this U7 Pro Wall. It´s great, but I'm not using it "inside the wall", and it´s quite annoying to me to hear the fan every time. Too loud to be on a quiet room, and honestly I don´t get it's necessary if you have "outside" of the wall. I think they should add an option to keep it silenced in this position.

These look great! I hope they come out with a U7-Mesh form factor, as well, for more options for indoor and outdoor installs (6GHz outdoor restrictions not withstanding, of course).

Many type of paints contain metal particles. Putting a painted cover on top of the Access point will reduce antenna performance if a proper paint without metal is not chosen.

I really LIKE the desk stand - U7 Pro Wall looks unobtrusive on a desk, and somehow cute, too :)

I just ordered 3 U7 Pro's yesterday just for the U7 Pro Max to come out today. Ugh!!!

5:41 Quick question: Why is the ping so bad, even if you didn't leave your own network? I was expecting <1ms or at least <2ms?

Do they have any tests on how much signal strength you lose by mounting it in the wall bracket and adding a painted cover? Would be interesting to see such figures... Real interesting product though. :)

I was really hoping you would talk about the signal direction. I can’t do ceiling installations, and where I need to place the access point it needs to have 360 degree coverage like most consumer routers can do. Is there a UniFi solution for no non-directional Wi-Fi? Is this it? Or does UniFi exclusively provide directional only Wi-Fi? By the way, I find this very frustrating, and by requiring direction of Wi-Fi they’re making difficult for many.

I have a FlexHD on a shelf, and it looks really good, but if I ever have to replace it, this U7 with paintable cover looks perfect!

Ordered one waiting for it to arrive :) For my needs I don't need the built in switch ports. Upgrading from an AmpliFi Alien which has been a solid performer over the years.

Your videos have been quite helpful. Can you do a video where UDM-SE and UNVR work together ?

curious if this has any directionality at all? for example I'd like to mount in a hallway near the middle of my house, would clients that are "behind" the AP get the same performance as those "in front" of it? In the same vein, would the in-wall (as opposed to on-wall) option get slightly better signal (1 less layer of drywall/plaster), or is the in-wall mount option 100% aesthetics?

thanks for the conversion of the temperature. And yeah, please don´t tell me so you don´t have to kill me ;)
btw: I just got the idea for your next unboxing, that you throw the packaging from your desk, it flies through your room, your house, your garden (yes, a little bit like we have seen a couple of years ago), but then also from your romm we can see it through the window flying across the street. maybe to the neighbours or even better: through the city to the local paper waste facility? :)

The U7 In-Wall version with Switch ports is still coming, almost pulled the trigger today and wasted a lot of money on something that wasn't what I REALLY wanted.
