I think you're right in saying you shouldn't use grippers while driving, I definitely get way too into it.

I'm a cellist and I started using lighter grippers (maybe 30lb RGC tops) and those gimmicky finger exercisers as a way to quickly warm up before playing. I noticed immediate improvements in my sound clarity. From there i got into some cheap Amazon grippers (listed 100lb to 200lb). Now my CoC #1 feels easy, my goal is to hit CoC #2 for reps.

I say all of this because I think some of the hand strengthen techniques that you guys in powerlifting actually translate into instrument playing. With cello and double bass the string tension is such that it takes a surprising amount of force to get clarity out of the string.

This rabbit hole into hand strengthening has led me to check out channels like yours for advice on strengthening pinch grip, if only for the purposes of playing cello better.

Damn 5 sets of 2 is waaay less than I thought to do!

I've been going 3-5 sets of 10-15 with say 60% 1RM. Might have to mix it up a bit and try something new :D
