The more I learn about other planets the more I appreciate earth. They are extremely inhospitable.

Science fiction always seems to become science fact over time.

"Why does Mars get all the attention?"
Because Mars doesn't have rain that eats holes in things.
Isaac Arthur's _Outward Bound: Colonising Venus_ and _Winter on Venus_ are good watches on the subject of making Venus habitable.

Wow, you put some serious thought and research into this, I'm impressed. I would've said something along the lines of "oh, just fling a giant Tums rocket at it and see what happens". I also never knew there was actual research and deep speculation into the idea of colonizing Venus. Good job, keep up the good work!

I am definitely up for you doing more videos like this, Dave. Top job, sir.

The bigger problem with Mars is the core is no longer moving. Even if we moved a large amount of CO2 or find a way to produce it. Solar winds would just strip it from the atmosphere. No magnetosphere makes it unlike any heavy atmosphere would stick to it.

If we can’t terraform Earth, we can’t terraform other planets.

We can't even predict our own climate within a 10 year span.

I love how casually he drops in how we can't terraform Mars and a moon for Venus would "be nice". Dave, you make me laugh.

I can imagine it now, mining operations on Venus to harvest the atmosphere and then transport it to Mars. Effectively an atmospheric transplant.

Another thing that people overlook.... is biology.
Most of today's world is regulated not just by physics, but by green mass (forests, sea algues, ocean CO2 trapping, ..)
In fact some say climate change will be less than people expect, because green mass will rise as CO2 rises, matching it.
So the real question is : can we create a chain reaction on Venus or Mars ? Like dropping billions of acid-resisting bacteria.

Ok if you have the tech to fling a planet at something wouldn’t you be able to use that tech to just increase the rotational speed?

So in other words, the only way we can terra form venus is to have technology on the scale of the Q-Continuum. Got it.

Basically everything I knew about the subject myself. I remember reading one proposal to throw a bunch of extremeophile algae or fungus cultivars at the planet in the hopes that one or more would be able to take hold on the surface despite the horrendous conditions. It would take a while, but the extreme CO2 abundance would allow for rapid growth if one of them got a foothold.

It's perfectly doable. "If brute force isn't working, you aren't using enough of it."

This post brought to you by Isaac Arthur gang!😎

Yes the fantasy of building a breakaway civilization on Venus to escape the insanity is exactly what brought me here. I was planning on bringing my family to guys want to join us and create a colony?

An excellent summary of the issues. Venusian Cloud Cities are in fact mentioned in my novel "Doom of Stars"

I think Venus is less popular than mars because Mars is red, and Venus is yellow. Mars is literally more appetizing. It looks like a big cherry candy, and that makes the caveman brain happy.
