In this video we are using a few different methods to terraform mars into a habitable planet in Universe Sandbox 2.

I'm on the Universe Sandbox team. Another developer shared your video with us.

The astrophysicist that developed most of the surface simulation said:
> I like his approach of “can I terraform Mars without adjusting any of Mars’ properties?”.

She also wondered if you know about the Material and Planescaping tools or maybe you wanted to add water using an asteroid because it’s more realistic?

And you're right that you can't currently add an atmosphere via collisions. We are working on a major update for next year that will add more materials to the simulation (like oxygen, nitrogen, argon, methane, etc) and you'll be able to add atmosperes from impacts once that is released (terraforming in general will be so much better once this is out).

This was fun to watch. Thank you for making the video.

(oh yeah, we dropped the 2 from our title a few years ago. It's now just called Universe Sandbox (and no longer Universe Sandbox 2))

If you make a terraforming planets series, will you terraform dwarf planets and moons?

I look forwards to this game implementing even a basic life system, if just for a more natural greening of the planet.

Simple easy way for humans to do this: steal asteroid, hollow it out, then fill it with water, launch it at mars

Terraforming Venus would be interesting!

Terraform realistically, then changes the atmosphere settings lol.
I wanna see if you can do it naturally and realistically it wont be easy obviously. Also asteroids would have other elements in them too.

You need to heat the core, it's solid right now, it needs to be molten metal and rock, so it can create a magnetic field, which will stop solar flares from destroying the ozone keeping the planet safe for life

"realistically" speed 0, mass 2831123821238

this is cool tho, last time i watched sandbox was in 2018 with markiplier, who ive long stopped watching but this seems cool.gonna watch it all the way :D
Cool.. wish it could have been less cratery and more mappy

I terraformed mars using only atmosphere

After the moon you should terraform titan (Saturn's moon)

Please give mars a stonger magnetic field than earth

Thanks for answering the question. No way to create a magnetosphere except manually. No way to adjust the atmosphere except manually. Still stuck with using ratios and cheating. Hope they fix it one day.

Nice video but: the iron core of Mars has frozen billions of years ago which means, there are no iron magma currents below the planet crust. That means on the other hand, there are no magnetic fields anymore which are required for a stable atmosphere. Without magnetic fields, there is no protection against rays from space. The atmosphere would just heat up and hence, water would just vaporize into space (disappear). Hence, the simulation game is still very unrealistic. Anyway, a funny game💯

In the second game if you increase the planet that much it freezes over 😂
