The power of aviation in naval military history seems obvious to us today, but for sailors at the time the importance of aircraft remained untested. However, unlike commonly thought, Billy Mitchell and the US Army Air Service did not face this battle alone. Join Dr. John Kuehn as he explores how many on the Navy’s side of the debate, fought in favor of the new aviation service, and creating a new branch of the Navy to adapt.

Presentation given as part of the National WWI Museum and Memorial's 2021 Symposium Fractured Fronts
