Honda CR-V review (2011 to 2016) | What Car?

The Honda CR-V is designed primarily for on- rather than off-road use, so it’s as comfortable and easy to drive as a family hatchback. There’s lots of interior space and the boot is huge.
However, the Honda CR-V costs more to buy and run than some rivals, and entry-level models are poorly equipped. Its handling is quite stodgy and refinement is nothing special.
Overall, the Honda CR-V gives you masses of space, great versatility and relaxed driving manners. However, there are plenty of other SUVs that offer more equipment and superior refinement for less money.

I didn’t expect this CR-V to come with manual transmission but love it.

It looks like the reviewer doesn't know what he's saying at all

I've had my mk4 2.0L petrol auto 7 years now and can't fault it. 40mpg on run . 25 on city driving. Shed loads of space in the boot and can get 3 large lads in the back when being a taxi on Friday night.

God will he ever stop moaning. I get the impression he doesn't like this car. What a banana.

Very negative review. I have had mk2, mk3, mk4, take some beating.

No mention of the 2.2L i-DTEC engine then? All those listed on Auto Trader must have had that engine retro fitted. As for the twin turbo 1, 6L i-DTEC, that was never fitted on the CRV, certainly not on the Gen 4 model (2011-2016) anyway.

I have the 08 Civic. For an increase in space as a family car, is this a good choice?

Is the comfort / suspension softer? (The civic informs you of all the bumps on the 08 reg lol)

Honda's tend to be quite reliable overall though.

Re: mpg figures. I have a new model 1.6 diesel 160bhp auto SE and have averaged over 42 mpg in mixed driving. I do drive reasonably gently and can regularly get over 50mpg. Obviously if driving in city traffic as previous post then mpg will drop dramatically. By coincidence my mpg is almost identical to previous car BMW X3 2.0 auto diesel.

I'm rusty on European mpg comparisons. What is the US equivalent?

Is the CR-V still made in Swindon or is it being shipped over from Canada?

I strongly object to the mpg figures. Where do you get these from? The manufacturer? Or doing real life testing? I have a "65" plate CR-V EX top spec and after 2, 000m have only achieved 24.5mpg!! Worse than my previous car which was a 3.6l V6 Porsche Cayenne !! You need to do real life tests by driving in cities like many of us do and not just claim manufacturers mpg! I feel completely cheated by Honda as were also given these Rubbish figures and was a factor in deciding to buy this car
