Yep, sounds the same to me! One can't expect to set the knobs EXACTLY the same but like showed, there are similar tones in nearby settings. Hope to get one and compare myself, nice job Sasha!

Great and honest review. It's absolutely right to talk about component tolerances in electronics—something not many people go into detail about. Listening to your samples with good headphones, I noticed only slight differences, nothing earth-shattering and nothing that couldn't be adjusted with a bit of knob-tweaking. Marshall did a great job with this reissue, and I understand the frustration of those who make clones or who spent too much on the original version.
PS: I have the original Shredmaster—the reissue sounds the same, or almost

Great video, got an old mk1 BB today; I feel they sound less ‘bitey’ than the re-released / newer ones. As others suggest, it really is a on a case-by-case basis for the older ones due to component fatigue with age. Definitely something you should try before you buy, as no two will sound the same. However, they will generally be more warm and mellow compared to the newer ones, and this is what I was after. Your video helped me decide, so thank you!

They both sound great. Maybe the old one is a bit warmer?

I think this video showcases the differences well! I have both (just wanted to find out how big the difference between vintage classics and the reissues are). You could say that they sound 95-99% indentical, but once you've used them both, the differences become apparent. The reissue actually has more of that amp-in-a-box type of a feel, whereas the original sounds more "like an OD pedal", but sure, I prefer the original.

Old and new sound the same. If you would compare 2 original ones, they wouldn't sound 100% exactly the same, because the values of the electronic components have tolerances (the older ones more than new ones) and also they tend to shift a little over time. Think the prices of the original ones will go down now.

Has anyone compared this reissue with the MXR Duke of Tone and the Boss OD3?

Hello Sasha, great playing, thank you. One question, is the intro the old or the new one? Greets

They are exactly the same. The only reason the old one will sound different is because of component value drift over the years.

The new one with the gain cranked sounds a bit more "Marshall-y" maybe? But the difference is as minimal as you can ask for a reissue. Ordered!

Check out the Blammo blues breaker clone too, fantastic pedal. I tried to tell Sasha about Blammo a few months back, he's based out of Oregon. I think Sasha's just too busy or "just another crazy American" maybe? lol All good though.

Do you still think that Sire S3 (basic version) is a good guitar?
