Goot timing. I'm currently on antibiotics. I really don't like taking them as I know the problems it can cause, even later on in life. Thanks Doc 👍👌

that's why you get them from pharmacy, preferably a specific one prescribed by the doctor, based on the antibiotics you are taking

If I don’t take probiotics with antibiotics I invariably get yeast infections.

When I do I never get the yeast infections.

So I can’t speak about the effects of it on the poops or for men but definitely can help women not get secondary fungal infections

I’m glad he’s a prebiotic kind of doctor and not the fecal transplant kind

I took a pile of supermarket probiotics and fermented vegetables (kimchi & saurkraut) when i was on antibiotics... worst case scenario was it tasted good. Strangely i've had very little in the way of diarrhoea ever since. :-)

in my personal experience, when i was on an extremely strong dose of broad spectrum antibiotics, after eating yogurt with it for about 3 days i forgot to take yogurt with it for dose and ill never forgot how much my stomach hurt that day. since theirs no downsides, ill stick with yogurt with antibiotics for now

It’s amazing how much science there is when it comes to food.

I used to develop yeast infection every time I had antibiotics in the past. Since I started taking probiotics in parallel, I never had this problem again.

Theoretically, you only need one bacteria to get through your stomach. It would then multiply and populate your gut. With the billions of colony forming units in things one is more than likely to slip through. If you're always eating things with probiotics like fermented foods, then it's safe to say you'll get quite a bit to slip theough. The fact that starting to eat fermented foods more often causes bloating and gas if it is in excess means that they are doing something in your gut. At the very least, they are taking up space and helping to prevent bad bacteria from thriving.

What probiotic do stop is thrush. Sadly I get thrush every time I have antibiotics but not since I take bio klut. I have lots of the other things you talk about anyways

One time I had a condition that required my sister (an MD) to prescribe me some strong antibiotic. The diarrhea was so bad I ended up forgetting why was I sick and what was the drug she prescribed me. All I remember was, since I was quite an overthinker, I instantly thought it was because the gut bacteria got annihilated, and indeed consuming a lot of probiotic drinks helped me that time (drained my budget for like more than a month tho lol)

Thanks for highlighting this Dr. I was trying to tell people to get kefir seeds as well. Water kefir seeds and milk kefir starter kits should be available .

I had a UTI around the time I had a really bad virus that messed up my liver. The antibiotics fucked up my stomach even worse and, by extension, my poop. The gastroenterologist gave me probiotics. I love that man because my liver and intestines are still in very much intact.

Why don't doctors tell us this when prescribing antibiotics?

I had multiple doctors tell me to take probiotics for various gut issues. They never told me which one. The one doc I challenged was a GI specialist and at least told me to look for a certain number of microbes which just ruled out the cheap supplements. There are hundreds of options out there! The few I tried did nothing for my gut issues. One gave me diarrhea, and that’s the only one that had any noticeable effect. Also they were a bit expensive and not covered by insurance in the US.

In the past when I had to have antibiotics I ate a lot of yogurt. I haven't had a yeast infection since.

First video by Dr.Karan I have a problem with. I have chronic embedded UTI, like other thousands of women (this is a problem in itself that should be talked about!), there is almost no recognition from the doctors that our condition really exists and that it is a serious threat to health and quality of life. They constantly feed us with short term antibiotics or prophylaxis. I'm on the 10th course of antibiotics in 2 years and this is just average! We suspect that the chronic uti-s emerge in the first place BECAUSE of the antibiotic overuse. I wish a doctor would have told me early on to take a bunch of high quality probiotics for the gut and for the vagina, when the problem started. Now I've been taking probiotics (most expensive and different ones from the pharmacy - they improved my gut symptoms much, I cannot even describe, and I was also able to reestablish a healthy vaginal microbiome again). Please, if you're on antibiotics, take good probiotics, a lot, more than 50 bil. a day. Of course food is the most important, but you can only eat so much...
