Also, a lot of us Asians are lactose intolerant. So, the creamer makes a lot of sense because most creamers are non dairy

Yes, most boba shops use a non dairy creamer powder but at my shop we used half n half.

Where I'm from milk tea is boiled milk with teabags in it. No water. Its amazing

Interesting! I usually see milk tea and also 'fresh milk tea' as a separate menu item. Maybe that one is when they actually use milk rather than creamer. Usually they're more expensive and rich/fatty tasting too

Worked at popular tea chain shop a few years back and we used creamer for our teas or half and half for certain teas like the thai tea. Also, for the teas that have honey in them, instead of the sugar syrup we used, it was this super sweet artificial stuff that looked like honey. That was back in 2017 and recently some shops have been putting up more teas that uses real milk/honey/etc (ones that do not use honey still probably use sucralose syrup or something similar though) and you can generally tell from the pricing.

I’m from KSA and we have “ milk tea “ drink, but it’s only served hot and there is two ways to make it.. 1-regular cup of tea with evaporated milk . 2- warm whole milk with a tea bag .

I worked at a boba place and we used a creamer by default but there was an option to switch the milk choice to whole milk, soy milk, or oat milk, and you just added 2/3 milk to 1 tea you were using and used the same sugar quantity. It tastes roughly the same when shaken with ice

Milk tea with actual milk is good too! Just not the creamy texture you might be expecting 😅
Its is creamier than normal tea and will fill you up, and imo, it really shouldnt be drank cold

most new places use real milk now. It tastes weird when you try it for the first time but you get use to it and I think they taste so much better!
