I worked through high school and college, full time in summer and about 16 hours a week for my uncle in hs, and 30 hours a week in college. No debt. Then I married a woman whose father and grandmother were multi millionaires. Problems solved.
Then I made my son work thru hs. But he had to do less as he was smart enough to get a 8 year free ride for a PhD at U. of Florida in the early 2000s when they threw money at smart kids. Problems solved again.
But my wife had to have two engagement rings. One passed down in my family, and one she and her grandmother picked out. That set me back a bit.

We need to end the practice of buying a person to be a partner for life. Really...the odds of marriage lasting 25 years is 50 percent. Lasting 50 years...5 percent. Women instigate marriage 80 percent of the time anyway. Marriage is a business contract that favors one person over the other, as well. And it ain't you guys. Lots of cash and prizes to be won in divorce.
