JFK’s body moved to permanent gravesite

#shorts
On March 14, President John F. Kennedy's body was moved to a new spot just a few feet from its original resting place at Arlington National Cemetery. Despite never specifying his burial location, JFK's family and friends assumed he would choose Massachusetts. However, due to his status as a World War II veteran and president, he was buried at Arlington. Jacqueline Kennedy, his widow, chose the final site after visiting it and agreeing that JFK "belongs to the people."
During funeral preparations, Jacqueline requested an eternal flame be erected at the gravesite. A makeshift flame was quickly assembled and lit by Jackie after the military ceremony. Over time, the original site attracted millions of visitors, leading to the decision to move JFK's grave to a safer location nearby.
The new site, completed in 1967, included upgrades such as a stable eternal flame and improved accommodations for visitors. JFK's body was secretly moved in a private ceremony attended by Jackie, his brothers, and President Lyndon Johnson. The Kennedy family covered the costs of the original burial, while the federal government funded the construction and maintenance of the final site.
Senator Robert F. Kennedy was later buried near his brother, and when Jacqueline Kennedy passed away in 1994, she was laid to rest beside JFK. Senator Ted Kennedy was also interred near his brothers upon his death in 2009. William Taft is the only other president buried at Arlington besides JFK.
