There’s a setting in call of duty that can bring the hud in closer

As someone who used a 34” I can concur it’s a much more pleasant experience

You can move hud on warzone easily to center or closer to middle of the screen to match fov I play at 120 fov and 32:9 super ultra wide Samsung neo g9.

The best part about ultra wide is moving all the screen clutter out of your peripherals. Minimap kill feed ammo ect. The information is still available to you but you can actually see the game. I think 21:9 will become the new standard

Correction: How much GPU has to work doesn't scale linearly with resolution.
It will be much lower than 35 more work for GPU.

Shorter answer; yes.

You get an increased FOV in most titles, so any edge lost with looking 8cm further to the side is made up.

If your GPU is struggling, sync technologies, lowering the settings or just gaming at a 16:9 resolution for that title will fix it.

I game on an UW monitor with a 1080, it's awesome.

I've been playing on a 49" ultra wide, 240hz for 2 years. I'll never go back!! I

We have advantage because we can see the enemy before they do

Ultrawide is the best monitor format out there, except for competitive fps and some other fps

I can't do ultrawide unless it has a curve to it, idk why. It just feels very unnatural to look at such a wide flat plane, having a little bit of depth of field just makes it feel more fluid and natural to me

For ultrawide use the 1000R curve screen, then u don't have 2 move as much. Also it's noticeably more immersive.

can't you just use 16:9 for competitive games and enjoy the ultra wide factor for other games and tasks?

U can move the hud closer in cod but Ik that isn’t the point cuz not every game has it, but that’s why I think ultra wide curved displays are good cuz ur eyes are closer so it’s easier to glance/see

You can move the hud closer into the middle that’s what I do

as someone who uses a ultrawide, for fps games its better just playing them in 16:9 with no scaling, this way its like you're just using a normal monitor and your ultrawide will have black bars on the side

It depends on the game single player games are great for ultra-wide and curved monitors but multiplayer FPS games will see a decrease in frame rates a good way to test is by changing your ultrawide monitor settings to a smaller display ratio to like 16.9 in lower picture quality and you'll see huge increases in frames per second. So it is best to have two monitors 1 ultrawide for single player games and work in production related stuff and for competitive FPS games a regular size monitor

You can move the hud/map way in in the settings of cod. To the same spot it would be on a 16:9. Meaning there's no down side. Not sure about other competitive shooters tho.

Yep I'm going ultrawide for rpg's etc. Now that I have the hardware to run games on UW screens and Costco has a hell of a UW that I'm gonna pick up. :)

I was thinking of getting the Samsung Neo G9 49" super ultrawide soon. Figured if I was gonna go ultrawide, might as well go all the way.

This video is misinformed in some aspects but I don't think it's on purpose:

For one: The extra pixels doesn't cause a 35% increase its more arround 20-25 at worse case. Lots of benchmarks have proved this on yputube.

Second: Lots of games specially cod let you adjust your hud position in game. It would have been better to use Apex as an example.
