Caregiving can be overwhelming. Most people don’t think there’s anything they can do to help lower that overwhelm. This video shares with you how your current thinking is keeping you in overwhelm and having an negative impact in caregiving. The good news is you can do something to change it. I break it all down in this video.

In case you haven’t met me, my name is Natali Edmonds and I am a board certified geropsychologist. That means that I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with older adults. One day, while hiking a trail, I came up with the idea for Careblazers and I decided to see if posting videos online could provide help to the many other Careblazers in the world who don’t get to have help come directly to them in their homes. I hope that this work helps you in some way on your caregiving journey.

Yes if I start to get overwhelmed I tend to take respite so we both get a break from each other refresh and recharge my batteries just to sit on the beach and learn to breathe again feel’s so good ❤

Me. My wife has Dementia and I am with her day and night. She doesn't sleep sometimes for two days. When she does sleep it's not in the bed, she sleeps on the sofa is angry most of the time and the thoughts are not working out the way you explain it. Some of the things you say are really good for me but I think I need some different kind of help

I believe this would relate to any caregiver's journey. This lesson is generic enough to be educational for caregivers whether caring for a loved one with dementia or a chronic physical illness. How the caregiver "shows up" can definitely influence how their loved one may respond. Well done.

Just found you, and feel like it could be life changing in helping our mom and ourselves deal with my dad who is in midstage dementia! And the basic psychology behind our reactions helps all of us especially in care giver roles:) I can’t tell how much more hopeful and positive I feel after literally just finding you tonight! I feel like this is the help our whole family has been needing caring for my dad, Thankyou so so very much:)🙏❤️

Yes! It is too much! …. But that’s why we get help and additional training. 😊

I find this so true. Thank you for this. Today has been challenging as my husband is having a tough day. He says everything looks new, but the same, and is having some struggles with delusions of people taking things from him. I am taking the stand of comfort, understanding and redirecting. It is tough and heartbreaking, but what is working. I am deep breathing and trying my best to have the best attitude towards this situation. Thank you for this video and all you do.❤️

The thought of too much, I think about when my son was a new born, made it through, and now a teenagerI, I’ll make it through. Caring for my Mom., much like a toddler, I’ll make it through. Some days suck! Others are good. It’s hard to focus on the positive when the can of worms becomes a vat. Hang in there everyone.

Interesting, my calmness now comes from the boredom and stagnation in life now. I have used all of your teachings on care, and it has helped out hugely with having a happier LOWD.
I guess I'm just stuck in this spot. She has no clue about dying anymore, she just cruises along through her day. I keep her happy. I have time away whenever I want or need.
Man, I'm so stuck. She is dying, it's so depressing and stagnating. You have eased my load tremendously. I thank you for that.
I will continue as long as needed.
I will not stop.
You know what? Have a margarita for me at the spa. I'll be there in thought.
Cruising along, waiting for my time to go out and travel.

My local support group provides this help, coaching, caregiver training without cost to us. "Selling" support training to caregivers adds to an already cost overwhelming situation. I have watched because I appreciate your expertise in caregiving with dementia. But selling it tarnishes your value to caregivers in my opinion. If people need good FREE training it's out there.
